Thumbs up Re: 75 Chevy 400 SB cooling issue

Dan, I am glad I was able to help you! It is a lot more fun when your vehicles are working well!
In Weiand's defense, they offer their pumps with or without the bypass port. It just doesn't make much sense to put one without a bypass on a street driven vehicle. It makes it difficult for someone like yourself to try to figure out all the modifications that took place before you bought it.

Re: 75 Chevy 400 SB cooling issue

Any suggestions on a replacement pump. I couldn't find one that works at the parts store the closest one they had was shorter for some reason. Should I just get a new Weiand or one of the millions of eBay pumps? I don't want to spend a bunch of money on the pump. The only reason I'm going to replace one I have is because the casting is so corroded and the backplate gasket they sold me is too thin and now the pump leaks.

There are two types of smallblock water pumps. Ask for a long water pump.

I still recommend AC Delco - shop the OEM online dealers - worth the extra cost, IMHO.

It has to be a short pump to work with my pully set up.
