I just hope he's got some sort of lead weights in the back...The rear end COULD get a little light with 620 horses pulling it around...

NOS Fenders,
Stacey stated on the show that they were NOS, I called Early Classic and asked them if the had any. I think they only had passenger NOS fenders left for 68.

I guess my point is that people like me have to pay for what I get. Stacey gets a lot of freebies. And with sponsors like Goodmark and how proud of their doors they are, you would think that they would not have allowed the use of anything but their parts. Kinda makes me question their doors if he would not use them.
And dinnut, pretty good is like saying daily driver. For a truck like that, nothing but new for me. Not even pretty good used stuff. 10+

You really need to know that Goodmark is not a sponsor to him. (yet anyways) He got them from ECE.(but the repo stuff was Goodmark) As far as using used stuff, if you get the stuff stripped so all rust is removed, then they are basically new again IMO. If the used stuff is really nice, then I would use them in a heartbeat. I do understand your point of using all brand new stuff on a project like this, but very nice used stuff is fine IMO tho too. Its just your preference I quess.
As far as your statement on paying for stuff yourself, well me too, but some people are really lucky in life, whether financially or physically. Just my 2 cents. Not trying to cause conflict with you by any means, just a different perspective.

The last show I watched he said that the 572 in that truck was the first one ever made. Even had 001 cut into the valve covers

I thought I would throw in a little something to this conversation. The guy that is helping Stacey on the show is a personal friend of mine and the owner of Early Classic Enterprises he grew up here in Pennsylvania right outside of Pittsburgh where we would compette to see who could get the best deals or the most old Chevy trucks.
I sure wished I would have stuck to my dreams and started a truck Co. saleing parts instead of the Restaurant business with my parents back then, because he sure has come along way from back in the 80's
I for got to mention he's name is Dave Clark,so if you are ever in a rut or need something give him a call.
THANKS JAY

Good friends would let you in now. LOL
No conflict. OK, ECE is a sponsor and providing Goodmark stuff. Same deal.
I think if you are showcasing something of this magnatude, go for the best. Smoothed bed rails, hidden bolts, stainless bolts, 572, used grill. Just makes my skin crawl.
I'm wierd OK.
And it's conversation. I don't mind your opinions at all. Have a great day all.

According to Stacey- The grill is not in reproduction yet- but all the trim parts for it were repro. And I believe he used the doors, and fenders to make the point that there are different kinds of parts ( used, nos, and repro ) and that you should weigh your options to fit your project. He stated very clearly that the doors were original used GM and that the fenders were NOS GM parts.
I trust he had those used parts checked over and redone to the highest standards. It sure looks good to me!

Did you guys see the January 04 issue of Popular Hot Rodding? They did a dyno test on the 572/620 "street" version,it made 701hp and 711 lb.-ft.!! They asked GM why it made 13% more hp and 10% more torque and they said "the engine is under-rated because we correct the dyno measurements using the SAE correction factor, reather than the aftermarket standard correction factor." GMPP responded. "Further,we under rate slightly to ensure that a customer can always meet our claimed power numbers if he installs one of our engines on a dyno,no matter which correction factor is used." I thought 620 seemed alittle low, lol.

He didn't use Goodmark doors because they are crap. I got them on my truck and they suck. Would've been better off with some asian repos. The doors don't fit worth **** and are about a thick as a beer can

Anybody got $13,000.00 to spare? If you have I will put one of these motors in my truck and let you know how it runs. That way when you go to buy one for your truck you will know what to expect. If I recieve enough I will buy one of each and test them out. I am retired (not retarded) so I have plenty of time to work on this. Hurry and be the first!!

so u would go without a grill?
nobody reproduces the 67-68 grill. you can only get used ones. if you get lucky --like winning the lottery lucky if you find a nos 67/68 front grill......

im just messing with you ya know. dotn take me seriously. they dont reproduce the 67/68 grill. so ud be forced to find a used one no matter what....

Hey nu2-72, does the used cab shell make your skin crawl too? I haven't heard you complain about the frame yet either, it was used also. I will probably never have a truck that nice, but I sure appreciate watching somebody else build something that we are all drooling over. I saw where that Boyd Coddington show is going to air again. They used all brand new parts, maybe you'll enjoy that more.

Hey guys it wont bee too long before the 67-68 Chevy grills are being reproduced. I sent a good one off to the manufacturer a couple of months ago to use as a template. I never could figure out why they reprodused the 67 GMC grill befor they did the 67-68 Chevys. The numbers just don't add up. Anyway I just thought that I would let you know. Its pretty easy to order all the parts and assemble a bike for tv, don't get me wrong I like the show but building a car in a set amount of time should be alot harder

Low seventy, no , just you.
I don't recall complaining. Just stating that if he can afford NOS fenders, why not a grill.
Are the fenders bad and that is why he chose not to use them or what? I do not care who pays his way. I want to know that my money buys the best out there.
I have the money to buy what I want since I left high school and started working for a living.
And drooling stopped with the bib about 45 years ago.
There are good used fenders. so why NOS?
If NOS fenders, why not NOS grill?
I believe it was said , "So that people could see the options that are available. "
I don't mess with 67 stuff so it doesn't matter to me.
I do not chastise anyone for their ride. I like mine and you can have yours. I will admire it if done nicely and if not , do it better or to the best of your ability.
I have seen many rides that I did not like, but I appreciate the effort that went into them. Others threw them together and they looked like it and some threw money at it and I could care less.
I will work my NOS, used or aftermarket parts to my satisfaction. Which is a very high standard.
Thanks for your concern.
