The quality of steel that the springs are made of makes a big differance. Do you think that $50.00 AIM springs are made of the same stuff as say Belltech or Western? Apples to oranges.

I do have a cut off wheel. I'm not financially limited because I'm broke. Well, I am broke, but that's because I already have a show/race car in the Buick.
I just don't want to dump a ton of money into the truck, I bought it to drive it and because I needed a truck. But at the same time I didn't want just an ordinary truck, I love this body style and wanted something else that I could be proud of and not cost me a fortune.

N2TRUX,
I'm not trying to single you out, I just have noticed that you have been here for awhile and have a whole lot of posts. I was just trying to figure out if--when you cut a spring, do you heat the very last coil to flatten it, or do you just cut it and put it back in as is? After other posts I assume that you put it back in even though the last coil isn't flat.
I just have never cut a coil before, so I need things spelled out for me.
You guys always seem to get along great and I really didn't mean to start this heated debate--so I'm sorry.

By the way, it finally dried up today, and I washed the truck, so hopefully tomorrow or the next day I can post a picture.

I think I'm gonna give up on this too...one last shot.

Why are some people making such a fuss about springs? Okay, the sort of steel used does contribute to the spring rate, I never denies that. But, say brand a uses a diff steel than b but uses a thicker wire or more coils to get the same rate.. what does it matter? You're selecting springs upon rate. How they get to that rate is alrgely unimportant. You can act like it''s all a big deal here but when just downright saying it the trucks suspension (IFS) is NOT something really fancy. Go check where the IC lies, go check the geometry, check the camber gain, why is there sych a poor kingpin angle, resulting in a large scrub radius.. yadda yadda yadda... it ain't a race car.
