I also vote for no. I like it the way it is. I think this was done with "Member Dealings" and it took me forever to find again.

If there was one thing I would like to see, it would better title descriptions of what you are selling. If it is OE, Aftermarket or NOS should always be listed in title description, in my opinion.

Good question and I am sure it will get mixed answers.

This sounds more reasonable and it could be a drop down option like the location prefix. You have to choose an option before the thread is created.

I have a question. Why do we still call it New Old Stock when it should be New Old Parts. When I bought the N.O.S. I sold it was parts I bought from stock... meaning at the Chevy dealership parts dept. THAT was New Old Stock. Now it's not from stock, it's many hands since for the most part.

Also, when I was at Carlisle a week or so ago I kept overhearing guys saying N O S and it made me think, "Why do they say it like that?". I mean, it's an abbreviation, right? Well, New Old Stock is three single syllables same as N O S. It's just as easy to say the words as the letters. I think about a lot of stuff

As I understand your rant, they were saying nos, not N O S.

I would never buy nos parts, although I have bought lots of New Old Stock parts. Now I view them as New Old Parts, thanks to your observation that they are not stock since they have been handled by hands other than GM employees.

Funny how one deep thinker can change your view on things.

Sorry I didn't address the cuisine thing, but I am still deep in thought about the NOS issue.

Getting back on topic...

A related question that I think would help answer the OP's question would be the following:
Which of the following groups describes your use of the parts board?
A) more than 85% of purchases/sales are NOS parts
B) more than 85% of purchases/sales are used parts
C) None of the above.

I would guess that at least 75% of people fall into groups A or B. Therefore, I would think there would be less "clutter" to sort out if the NOS parts were separated.

The board ain't broke, but it could be improved with a subgroup IMO. It would be better exposure for all sellers, and likewise buyers are more likely to see the parts they are looking for.

Searching prices would also be a bit easier, as used and NOS parts would be separated....arguably a small benefit, but a benefit nonetheless.

I'll support whatever is decided, but I definitely favor the subgroup.

I don't see N.O.S. parts getting cluttered. I see them on the first page. Every N.O.S. thread has that in the title from what I see. So searching the parts forum using N.O.S. with the part name should take you to.

Not the parts boards, but in general I've been thinking it might be time to start thinking about condensing this website from what it has expanded to.

In my last post I meant people saying the three single syllable letters instead of the three single syllable words. I understand abbreviating when writing but not when speaking. It would be the same for New Old Parts

Okay, I voted NO. It's hard enough to get members here to follow the rules and post in the proper sections the way it is.

I'd rather see the energy used to enforce the current rules. I see Premium Members posting many NOS parts, or entire trucks being parted out. It's obvious they are not selling left overs from their project. Also, WIW threads in the sales area and long time members answering their questions instead of referring them back to the Subscribe link. <rant over>

Wouldn't just help nos people. There are probably more people interested in only used parts than there are people interested in NOS parts.

Correct, many of our members are O.E.M. only. And this would be an aid for them as well as N.O.S. members chance to see the original parts and N.O.S in there own group. Thanks Russ
