Re: 67-68 factory steering wheel colors

I'm pretty sure Black was available in the GMC's in 67. Eric Johnson's and GMCkid's 32 mile truck are Fawn with black column and steering wheel.

One man's 503 Lt Green is another man's turquoise, I think.
I have a ''turquoise'' wheel on my Fawn truck, since I'm rebuilding the original wheel. I've also heard the color called ''Seafoam Green''.
And, just for the heck of it, here's my all Fawn '67 Suburban interior.

I also believe black was available in the GMCs only.

This one was in the 67 ramp truck when I bought it.
I haven't unwrapped it yet.

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: 67-68 factory steering wheel colors

I have a '67 C20 503 light green exterior with what appears to be 510 turquoise poly/metallic interior and steering wheel. Turquoise poly isn't an interior option listed for '67, but I'm fairly sure that's what it is. I recently replaced my driver's door with a '69 503 light green with the same patina and West Coast JV mirror ...lucky find. Thanks to Huey's Hot Rod (Lynn Huyear) in Carlinville, IL. The difference between the '69 door and the '67 door panel is obvious. The trans tunnel really shows off the poly metallic paint. Pics of the '69 LH door and original '67 RH door attached.

Re: 67-68 factory steering wheel colors

Black was not an option on these 67-68 wheels as far as I know.
I do know they are black in aftermarket. Saw one here at a restoration shop. Wanted over 330.00 for it.
Also there was the orangish wheels. 516 I think

You’re looking for light green.

Re: 67-68 factory steering wheel colors

I question the black steering wheel and column in Eric's truck being original. They should be fawn like everything else.

I don't have a paint code, but the '67s and some early '68s got the inside of the cab painted to go with trim color selected, same as preceding years. That metallic green isn't found in the exterior paint codes. I believe all that has been pulled up in a thread here somewhere. Someone will have the code handy. Could start a thread if you don't get help here.

It’s not black, or not sopposed to be. My ‘67 GMC has a dark grey wheel and column which is unique to ‘67 GMC’s

Re: 67-68 factory steering wheel colors

Here’s a side by side comparison of 68 chevy fawn and 67 gmc which is a dark gray. I bet this is what Eric Johnson’s truck has. I recently bought this thinking it would match my 68 interior. Oops.

Re: 67-68 factory steering wheel colors

I don't have any up close pictures but my steering wheel is like a cream color inside and out. I can try to go look at it in a few weeks when I'm back up north to see if there's any other colors showing through it but I'm pretty sure it's just that off white cream color. And unless the heat has gotten to it it should still only have one or two small cracks in it

Fawn. Pristine example. You can't get a dash pad in Fawn anymore.

Would the dash have been seafoam green as well? Right now it is the 505 dark green.

I don't know. Never had a green Chevy. I'm currently using a green wheel until I finish painting my original wheel Fawn.

Re: 67-68 factory steering wheel colors

I'm curious how many 67 wheels were cast in color and how many are black and painted over. I had one of each. 1st picture is of the cast one. The cast one had lots of shrinking but stayed shiny like new paint and the black painted over one had just hairline cracks but the paint was wore where your hands rubbed the wheel and was sun faded

Not correct horn button.
Really rough shape. My dad and I pulled it from a truck around 1979.
Been sitting in my Dad's garage until we cleaned out the garage 8 years ago.
