I saw the same thing,

SOLVED - 5/16th plug in the hole mentioned.

Can anyone explain what that hole is for (I heard power braking?) and if these trucks use that?

Re: Grinding/Screech from Block

It's a vacuum port that can be used for a power brake booster. Trucks use it if they have power brakes (vacuum boost).

On the video you have a power brake booster, where do you have the hose from it hooked to now?

Re: Grinding/Screech from Block

Yep. Sounds like a massive vacuum leak
Plug that port on the back of the carb.

Honestly I didn't think anything of it. The noise was originally not happening, so I think it may have come off and I never even thought of it. This truck is my first project, AND my first exposure to mechanical knowledge.

I'll check for that hose at first light tomorrow!

It could be that the hose fitting was not tighten and vibrated out.

Re: Grinding/Screech from Block

The hose coming off the forward portion of the brake booster is going into a plug that's attached to the top of the intake, and the other side of the plug is going to a hardline towards the back. I'm assuming it's just bypassing the carb.

That should be fine, my AMX power booster come off the intake, its the same vacuum as the bottom of the carb. No clue what that hard line is for, possibly for the transmission.

If I am not mistaken, that hole is threaded for 1/4" tapered pipe. A 5/16" fitting may still allow a small leak. Spritz the fitting with carb cleaner, and if the idle changes, get a 1/4" tapered pipe plug. It should seal with no thread treatments, BTW.
