Looked at this '67 today

'Time'.....such an excellent point of consideration....Boy does Rube Goldberg certainly make his rounds.....Glad to hear its just not me.....Just can't get passed 'cobbing' - If you can't do something right, why do it at all?.....$1000. sounds fair...If he still has it, its not like he has a line waiting to buy it....besides if its not like guys on the forum, who else would even look at it......

I look at one here in Jersey, a 67 short about three years back almost same condition, body was straight and was a custom with factory buckets and tinted glass don't remember if it had AC, chassis was in good enough condition to make look clean again but even though you couldn't see it from the out side it had rust all around half way up the body, all metal had to be changed, just sat there scene 2000, to me the thousand dollars I offered was good enough for the buddy buckets that needed complete restore and the tinted glass. Never heard back but I sure wish to have got it.

The thing is the cab should be saved for the VIN, 4x4 decals, and other stuff but would need a complete floor and up about 4 inches on the cab. I will check and see if he still has it in the next couple of days.

That's a lot of rust but only 1046 SWB 4x4's were built in 67.

The rust is a scary sight but the frame abuse and debauchery is a big unknown that would keep me away when combined with the cab rust.

There could be some serious metal fatigue and cracking going on in addition to the "creative" repair work from being over loaded that heavily. You wouldn't know until it was totally apart and cleaned up to a point it could be measured and inspected. I would put it on a frame rack too with the way it was treated.

I looked at one that the bed mount carriage bolts were the only thing holding two parts of the rear frame rail together just in front of the trailer hitch. Must have had way too much tongue weight on it for a long period of time or got hit from behind on the hitch.

I like 2 Stovebolts idea..... just buy it as cheap as you can now and that will give you time to decide what you'd like to do with it. I think it's safe to say you can always flip it! But that's coming from a truckaholic...

Well, we are all always learning, and you didn't have all of the information before......

I happened to talk to a friend of the owner yesterday and he told me what the guy paid for it. $1200. Maybe I will up my offer to that so he can get his investment back.

^^^ Always a helpful plus to have that information. He might have realized by now it's not an easy flip for profit but not ready to take a loss. Best to get money back and start over

Half ton pickups were the work horses of America. Had a guy in another thread ask why there weren't more 3/4 ton and one tons back in the day. Life was different back then. Thinking was way different. Owning a pickup was a luxury item, to even a farmer back then. My Dad was born at the beginning of the great depression in 1931. People that lived in those days always had in the back of their mind that such a horrible tragedy could occur again. You didn't spend money on anything you didn't need. It's hard for these younger folks to fathom what that was about.

Looks like that pickup got "flat" used up!

Not to be discouraging....reevaluating my previous comment....but Lock Doc mentioned "Time" I'm a few years younger but that's not a guarantee....Not sure I would want that on my plate at this stage....The mind wants to do it all, but does the body?.....That truck can very well become 'Yard Art' in somebodies yard.....I'm experiencing the same fate with a 13ft. Serro Scotty trailer...Stored many years in a barn, it has to be completely taken apart to reseal it & freshen it up......with all my other projects...The reality is, I have to pass........
