Re: Social Distancing ?
I'm eating onions and I stopped showering.
That should keep people at a distance

Why punish yourself though?
I do wake up, go straight to work, take a break around lunch for a shower and lunch.

Cost of these weddings is minimal, relatively speaking. Some efficient ushering would have squeezed everyone into our home church auditorium. Reception was intended to be outside. Food purchased in bulk quantities. No booze. Rent a gym for the evening for the younger folks to use for volleyball, etc.

There is an opportunity in every bad thing. Suppliers for the supermarkets should now survey the stores and look and see what's selling and what's not. Rumor has it all the meat pizzas were gone but plenty of vegetarian pizzas left on the shelf.

Re: Social Distancing ?
That's what I was thinking. The term reminds me of how my late marriage ended up. Maybe if social distancing had been ordered back then I'd still be happily married
Let's just hope all this helps get that mean bug out of here ASAP. I hope none of us catch that crap.

Re: Social Distancing ?
Our county is locking down on Friday. I saw somewhere that, per capita, we have more cases all but a few places. 'Essential Workers' are exempt, of course. Apparently, construction workers are essential. Essentially expendable is probably closer to the truth. I suspect those that make these exceptions are square in the middle of getting their house built or something. I was looking forward to hanging out at home for a while and sucking up some of those full-wage unemployment checks we've been hearing about.

The other thing: farms, trucks, and grocery stores are "essential." But what about the related supply chains? Trucks won't roll and crops won't get planted if you need an O-ring and can't get it.

Re: Social Distancing ?
Just about everything is essential for that reason. The only things I can think of that would be considered non-essential are entertainment only places - movies, mini golf, that kind of stuff. Might be some stores that are shut down. Lots of stores are still open - auto parts, home depot, Lowes, liquor, anyplace food can still do carry out / delivery, starbucks is even open. Places you wouldn't expect like a shoe store, but if someone working needs a new pair of shoes, they need to get to a shoe store.
As for home values, hard to say. Everything is pretty much locked down right now, so can't buy or sell. Unfortunately this happens right around the spring market. Hard to say what will happen when things are "back to normal." There will be a flood of houses bought / sold right after returning to normality. Some people may not have the financial means to do so. People that either lost their job, had reduced hours, had to pull from savings to make ends meet. Really hard to say what that will mean 6 months or a year from now.

I had to laugh when I got the email stating that Classic Parts of America was essential. Now the junkyard being open I understand. My area is poor and that is the parts store for alot of folks.

We do mostly municipal utilities. The supplies for those jobs is usually on site when we start. They closed the quarry Tuesday morning and opened it back up today. Our head mechanic was telling me this morning that he has to call Fleetpride Truck Parts to order and they come to the door and throw it at him. I don't know if they are doing deliveries.

Re: Social Distancing ?
I had to run to town today to do payroll and make a deposit for my business. At the bank they had florescent green X's taped on the floor about 6 feet apart. While I was waiting on the teller to handle my transaction, I noticed this dude {who apparently lives under a rock} leaning on the counter blind to the bright 2 foot X on the floor. He even reached over the counter to grab a pen. I rolled my eyes...
Being the owner of a furniture store, I am a non essential. That was my last deposit I can make since I've been forced to close. We were kickin tail up til then, I presume it was from the income tax refund surge in business we typically see this time of year, but also I think because people knew what was coming and wanted to be comfortable while they were stuck in the house. On my way home I stopped in Autozone to pick up a universal fuel pump for my tractor that crapped out. Same thing going on in there with the bright colored tape on the floor, this place even had a couple of bright orange traffic cones with some signs taped on them. I glanced at them and gave them the once over. Then I headed back to look on the shelves for the fuel pump. The manager comes shuffling my way with a sense of urgency about him and I tell him what I need. He then informs me that I was now that guy who didn't follow the rules. I was supposed to stop at the cones and ask them to fetch what I was lookin for. I felt like someone probably rolled their eyes at me. O well, Ya win some ya loose some.
