Re: intermittent misfire
Over the weekend, I purchased an Elderbrock rebuilding kit with the intention of cleaning and rebuilding the 1406 carburetor. Pulled the carb out, took the top off and observed a “gunked up” mess. No problem, I’ll disassemble, soak overnight and rebuild.
While pulling out the last secondary jet, I noticed the jet screw head contained pieces of the carb body imbedded in the threads. Further inspection revealed the female threaded secondary jet port was stripped. I tried putting in the new jet, but it was totally stripped. &%$#! Out of pure frustration and the desire to make some headway on my truck, I ran down to the auto parts store and purchased a new 1406. After install, the truck runs much better , but needs a fine tune. Ran out of time over the weekend & hope to get back at it this week |
