Re: 2 inch drop spindle or maybe not??
4U2NV, I already thought I got rid of the helper spring. Do you see one in pic of the spring?

Re: 2 inch drop spindle or maybe not??
The ride is good, no bottoming out just watch for speed bumps, can still carry a load on the back but not too heavy, I had a stack of grass sod on the back a couple of times and the frame was sitting on the axle but luckily I only lived 1/4 mile from Lowes, I had the front end lowered by cutting 2 coils and having an alignment kit installed which is nothing more than a 1" thick spacer bar put in behind the alignment shims along with longer A-arm bolts. This was the popular way to bring the front down back in 83 by the Truck Shop in LA.If you look down in the pic you can see the spacer behind the shims. Now I would go with lowering springs and dropped spindles..

Re: 2 inch drop spindle or maybe not??
@kglowacky,
Was the leaf spring & a-arm hardware tightened when extended or under compression? They need to be tightened when under compression or it will bind things. Binding leads to mis-leading measurements. Loosen things up & retighten w/full weight on the tires. Re-measure before you start shimming body panels.
