Re: OG style radiators

Well, since i needed 2 radiators, i got one from speedway and had an original re-cored. Price wise was almost the same. Will have to wait to see how they fit.
Speedway rad on left.

i have one in my attic. Pretty sure its NOS. was in a gm box when i got it 7 years ago. box was destroyed but radiator looks flawless.

Re: OG style radiators

I used KKS Motor Sport 369 and seem to cool good and fit fine. Has stamped tanks for a good look.

Re: OG style radiators

Decided to keep my original rad so took it to look my local, been in business forever, rad shop and had it redone and seeing I have A/C in my truck and I'll want maximum cooling for the new engine going thats going in I had them make it into a 4 row radiator. Was expensive but in the big scheme of money thats been spent on the truck not really significant. Now onto getting the new heater core installed as I've been procrastinating doing the job for the last few years.

Re: OG style radiators

If you don't already have a new A/c Heater core, it took me 6 weeks to get one. But I wanted a cooper/brass one because of all of the bad reviews I have read about Aluminum.

I've had one of theses sitting in a box for 2 years and may get the original recored instead. I'll decide when I get the original removed. https://www.npdlink.com/product/core...1972&year=1972

Re: OG style radiators

There are videos on youtube of entire engines rebuilt and running for less than $1,200....

I understand I have no place in the world of $50k...$100k.....$250k custom built restomods with crate Hellcat engines, sequential transmissions, missile launchers etc.

But I just refuse to believe that cooling an old engine in an old truck has to be that $$complicated$$.

I agree with you. The Chevy 350 is one of the cheapest and easiest engine to rebuild and hotrod. And it doesn't take anything special to keep it cool. I use the original 2 row radiator that came with my 307 truck to cool a 350 with a Edelbrock intake and carb and it doesn't get too hot. On 100+ days it may occasionally start to creep up in heavy traffic, but I'm not usually driving it on days like that (no A/C). If I had the radiator cleaned/rebuilt or switched to a 3 row, I'm sure it would stay cool even on the hotter days. I see no reason to spend more on a fancy new radiator than I paid for the entire truck.
