Re: Original Details

Took mine off and checked them. They are 7/16" with 1/4"-28 (fine) threads. All of the nuts I've found online are smooth round (no crown) or high crown. None of them look like the originals so I posted a WTB here on the board for some unpainted originals.

Re: Original Details

Found some. Here's a comparison pic.

1. From a NOS 3960511 mirror (I assume it's correct)
2. Modern Replacement (slightly shorter than other two but has acorn shape instead of smooth rounded top. Shoulder height looks the same as the painted one. I'd imagine GM may have had multiple sources for this nut over the lifecycle of these trucks)
3. From my truck (I assume it's original but painted)

I assume I'll have multiple questions regarding factory correct details so, I've started this thread in hopes that it will keep all this info in one spot for anyone else who might have the same questions.
I have the details in an "assembly guide", nearly finished. Agree, been there. I bought my truck in 1989. Did some really kid-like things to it, dumb mirrors, tailgate web, yuck yuck yuck. Lost my P13 etc. 33 years later it's factory with a few subtle improvements. Even the hardware refinished.
