Double humper heads! Do they have the 2.02 or 1.98 intake valves?

Re: Fathers 68 stepside overhaul
Little bit of an update since last posting on this truck.. Its been a slow go, My father ended up passing away in March. Was hoping to get the truck back together before that happened but here we are. Ended up having to work a deal out with my brother to acquire the truck solely (everything of my fathers was split 50/50) Truck was on track to be done by the end of the month and I called an audible. Decided to switch the interior over to the saddle color, so thats going to kick the finish date by a couple of weeks. Which is fine as I had to do some driveway work and erect a building to house the truck. Since I wasnt planing on getting the truck this soon.. But here are a couple pics
Motor is in. and a couple pics of the new interior color, Carpet, door panels and seat cover. |

Re: Fathers 68 stepside overhaul
wp,
My condolences on your father's passing. Glad he got to see you reviving it before he passed and you were able to work out sole ownership with your brother. Love the truck and the red on saddle will look great!

Re: Fathers 68 stepside overhaul
Thanks, I appreciate it. Im hoping the saddle looks good.. The interior wasnt in bad shape the seat, carpet and dash cover were black. Door panels were metal and painted body color.. It just looked a little bland... Im hoping this gives it some pop.

Re: Fathers 68 stepside overhaul
oooh, sorry about your dad. You're doing great work on that truck, and it's nice that you have sole ownership, to boot.

Re: Fathers 68 stepside overhaul
Good news. Truck has sat so long that the carb is trashed... Looking for a rebuild kit now. That or we are just gonna have to toss a new one on.. The money never stops with these old trucks lol

Re: Fathers 68 stepside overhaul
Good move. Black seats are pretty, but not Butt-Friendly in Sunny climates.

Re: Fathers 68 stepside overhaul
Yup! I tried to talk my wife into a parchment seat cover when I reupholstered the seat. Given that it was originally black, and she didn't want to lose the memories, it went back to black. Seared ham, anyone?

Re: Fathers 68 stepside overhaul
It had a Holley on it. Dad replaced it about 10-12 years ago. The truck really did sit more than get driven. He had put more carbs on it than he did tires lol.. He bought the truck in 94.. And up until last year, It had the same set of tires on it that it had when he first bought it.

My buddy recommended we run a Quick Fuel carb on it this go around. He has had really good luck with them! So fingers crossed.
