optimas are the worst. if you leave a dome light on or have something that will kill the battery, it will kill the battery. went thru 2 or 3 optimas before i decided to go back to a regular battery. oh and guess what if you jump the vehicle and try to charge the optima back up w/ the alternator after you have killed it, it will fry the alternator too. after two brand new napa alternators I gave up..

Really? I was saving up for a batt./alt./water pump upgrade for some electric fans. Anybody else have mike's problems with an Optima batt.?

My Opima battery has been the best. I've left the lights on and nearly killed the battery - started just fine. I've never heard of any problems with optimas. It probably was just your cheap napa alternators that were doing it.

nope the alternators werent the problem. the problems started when i got the optima, and ended when I got rid of the optima. I was really surprised and bummed out because other than that, they are great batteries. as for it being the first time youve heard of the problem, research it, you will find many others that have the same experiences

A friend of mine had a defective OPTIMA battery. He returned it and got a new one and I haven't heard anything since then. I run a cheepo pep-boys battery and never had any issues.
