Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
Sunday????? shoot...more like friday night. Starting friday at 8 or so am. Should not take too long to pull old one and stab new engine in its place. At least that is the plan. Would like to have the exhaust hooked up sat some time.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
Just went to hardware store and got 6 of 10x1.5x40 and 10x1.5x45 bolts. They look really long to me. But that is what all the fourms say to use. What did yall use?

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
Well folks.....swap is officaly under way. Got to bros house at 8 or so. Then sat around and bs for while. Then went to get his truck, then went back to his house to get the engine hoist, then to storage, then to paint shop to see if bros blazer is still on scedual for paint and body, then to his house. By the time we got to his house it was after 10:30 am. Had old engine out sitting on its tire buy noon. Every thing is going great at that point. Then installed balancer bolt and touqed it to half a million it seemed like. Then set valves cause i backed them all off to take pressure off the springs. Then made list of stuff i would need. Then went to napa and got powersteering oil, new lower rad hose, powersteering hose, coolant, wire, loome stuff to cover wire. Then the fun came...........hoisted engine into its new home. It did not want to go. After jacking around with mounts and mount plates for what seemed like all freken day it was in and bolted to trans. Then all hell broke loose with pos headers. I must have to say they most deff DO NOT FIT a 4x4 truck. They hit everything within a 10 foot radius. We started with the pass side. No go. Had to cut ear off trans( Did not want to do that by any means.) After we switced off turns with hack saw a few times. It was off. Tryed to put header back on no dice. it still hit the frame, and shackel. SO i tryed the briver side. Went on perfict so i thought. Just needed collector to be moved a tiny bit. Then after giving up for the day went to try to shift into nutral and dang shifter would not move......It was hitting the collector. So pulled that off and pushed it back to clean mess up and go home. Sorry for the long post but it should answer most of questions some may have. Now for the good part.....PICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It never goes as we plan it. Good luck on getting it all straightened out. Besides the exhaust it seems like things went ok?

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
Had to fight the mounts to get them in right place but except for headers went smooth. The mounts kept trans in same place. With some adjustment left to go back ferther still. Tons forward. Wish i could have started it today but i have a factory manifold orderd that will be here at 8:45 am. So should start some time tomorrow. All i have left is msd box carb install and alt wireing. Should go smooth. Ha there i go again.......

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
Would deff recomend them.. On mine i had to loosen them tell the bolts were only in a few threads on the plate and loosen the rubber mount on the frame then install the bolt that goes threw them. Then drop engine down and tighen all bolts. As far as i can tell the rear trans mount is not stretched one way or the other. Shifted into nutral and park great. Look good too. Great quality in the manufacturing of them. Can get better pic tomorrow.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
Really crappy video of running. You can deff here the cam a bit at idel and in gear. Need to set up my timing and carb little better but it runs great. No leaks on anything yet. Alt puts out 14 volts with headlights, heater, fuel pump on. Engine has 45 psi oil pressure at hot idle. Will deff spin the TIRE..just one....for as long as i want it to if i punch it from dead stop. If i would have remembered to turn fuel pump on it would have started on first crank. Had to get new starter due to rust on bendix gear not letting it go twards the flywheel. Got to disturbe someones party down the street from my bros house already when i drove by at who knows how many rpm....Sorry if it was you....Will get pics of compleat engine tomorrow.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
So the stock manifolds fit fine? Does it have a noticeable amount of increased power? Good job!

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4
Well the maniflod i have on pass side i had to nothc the frame where the collector bolts are. And had to grind on the egr port to clear. But driver side fits like it was made for it. Did not drive it very far just up and down street. Seems like it has good power. I have to set my carb and timing curve with msd box cause it kind of ran out of power. Pulled hard then flattend out. I had the smallest tuming curve the box came with in it so that may have been most of problem. It had no problem burning tire. When it broke free rpm shot up like it was in nutral. But everyone seen and hurd tire spinning. It is very very loud when you punch on it so i was easy on it most of time. Just punched it two times. After i get exhaust connected and max rpm set with box i will see what it does.
