From what I've measured on mine, steering shaft interference is directly related to the amount of the notch.

Although in the mags it was listed as a 1.5" notch, I've learned that Turners kits were(are) based on a 1.25" notch. In the articles, they made no mention of any issues w/upper a-arm/steer shaft interference. I 'whacked' 1.5" out of mine & the tape-measure says there will be interference w/the stock steering stuff. I haven't swapped it in yet so I'm not 100% but if I was betting . . . .....

I'm waiting (still....) to see what the AirRide control arms look like & see if they'll offer any more clearance.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

As easy as control arms are to come by, notch it & see how much you have to cut out for clearance. As long as you can weld in a simple boxing 'U' piece, you shouldn't lose any strength.

First read this entire thread from the very first post. There is info from people who have struggled w/Turners.

If you still wish to contact Bill @ Turner Enterprises, their e-mail addy is listed in the thread and his phone number is on his advertisements in classic truck magazines.

I've spoken w/him on several occasions & he's a really nice guy, it just seems some people have problems w/communication w/him after the initial sale. I have purchased items from him w/o issue.

What Scotti said. I bought alot of stuff from Bill Turner and he has always came through except for the last set of control arms. If you are really interested in control arms and I know where I can get them made. Anyone know where to get custom bushings for the arms

The kind of bushings found on Air Ride Technolgies control arms, I can most likely have a freind make control arms for a reasonable price.

That's the one thing I don't care for about air-rides stuff.... you can have any bushing you like, as long as it's the urethane bushing that fits their application.

When I spoke w/Darren @ air-ride I told him the arms for the 63-87's should be set-up to use easily obtained factory rubber bushings that can be switched to urethane if desired.

I'd look elsewhere than Turner Ent.....I have tried to get ahold of him for the past 4 months and never got a word out of him. The answering machine is full most of the time and he dosent reply to emails. The last time I talked to him his wife was going through hard time and I totally understand, however, not returning phone calls is not good business. I know that he's downsized his employees a year or so ago....My guess is that he's not a good business man and is letting things run to the ground and going out of business. He's one hell of a nice and friendly guy.... and I am sorry to bad mouth him, but the ****er has cost me money and a **** load of time.

Thanks guys. I own my own business and I return all my calls within 24 hrs. Its just good business. Customer service is one of the most important things in business. I have a 72 lwb Cheyenne super, Big block , a/c, 700r4 trans, air ride,
etc... It seems when let all the air out of the bags. The front gets to a point where the camber goes way negative. I guess the only really good solution is the mII front end. I have read this thread and many others for quite some time before I joined this forum. I am glad to be part of this. BTW I am working on another chassis for this truck. It is a swb. Found that the lower I got the truck, the longer it looked. Ha! I guess thats not such a bad thing if your a chick. But, I like the look of a swb over a lwb when in the weeds. Any coments good or bad will be appreciated. Thanks in advance for all your help!

i'm still reading this thread but it has migrated to other places and dying out. i have'nt gotten around to the x-member drop yet, but i would still like to hear about updates and new discoveries. i have downloaded all the info for the drop and been to all the websites as this is great info. i don't intend to lay frame, just bags, drop spindles, and x-member slice. any updates or findings.

Dont sell your parts phantom! It will get better. I have not really updated mine in a while but it will be under the knife soon. I am still doing up the shop truck with my partner. Once that is done mine will be going in shortly. Then I will get some more pics!

Phantom.......dont sell...take a break for a while until the bug returns.......thats what i did and now i want to work on mine again......it's a big project to vision what you want and then actually build it. I also know what you mean about selling.....Turners stuff seems to finally be working out for me, but all the money put into it, i coulda done something totally different and a whole lot cheaper to accomplish what i wanted.
