Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Oh this wasn't my abuse. I just bought this truck off Craigslist last week and those were my first steps in tuning it up a bit. I'm suspecting it might eat a little oil and maybe the previous owner kept filling it without doing actual oil changes, since the drain bolt was painted over with the engine block/oil pan and looked like it hadn't been removed for quite a while.
Now that the oil has been changed I'm running Valvoline with a Fram oil filter. |

Found a set of 15x8 5 lug rally wheels with center caps and trim rings for $15.00 each, at the metal recyclers. Of course I bought them!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Installed a new set of Holley MT polished valve covers with new breathers and a new fuel filter, to me they topped off the looks on my motor. Going to get a Stainless steel hose covering kit next just trying to figure out if I want blue, red or chrome ends for it.
Also bought a small set of blue LED lights to install under my dash to ad more light into the cab at night. Posted via Mobile Device Last edited by 69GWC; 10-13-2012 at 03:33 PM. Reason: adding picture |

I got the door bars in this afternoon. This is the Autoweld 8pt rollbar kit with the 'road race' door bars. I won't be using the rearward bars because of the hassle involved with cutting the back of the cab and it being a pain in the a$$ getting everything fitted in the bed since I am using a wood bed. I also mounted the door bars a little lower that normal since I'm using '72 door panels and had to make sure they would clear. This is my first time doing something like this and it has been a 'challenge' to say the least...

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Looks good though so far. Did you weld any stiffners on the bottom of the cab?
I understand about the hiatus, it is better to walk away than do something for a quick fix and u regret it later.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I've been doing a little work to mine but nothing near what most of you have done.
I installed a S-10 blazer center gear shifter with part of the console. It has cup holders and I mocked up the bottom half myself. Going to take it and have the upholstery shop do the final work on it. It has the indicator lights and backup lights working. It has the electric park solenoid wired to come on when cranked but I have a hidden switch to cut it off when I feel a need to. So no matter what u do it want come out of park unless u crawl under it and unhook the cable. Me seeing what it would look like. I think carpet would look better than the leather.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Well I got under the truck and adjusted the shifter cable and now gear selector is right on! I also hooked a new toggle switch up to operate the torque convertor. Moved it off the dash to the console.
This is a old kitchen light I wired up to use under the truck. U want burn your self with it either. My wife showed up with this today also. Hobby Lobby had them.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I parked it by the street with a for sale sign on it. At least 5 people called me on it. Hope to sell it so I won't have to drive it to Roanoke, Texas. That is were we are moving.
