Did a little refurb of the dash cluster. Cleaned, polished, and painted the needles.

did you have any trouble with the wire harness to the back of the new instrument? Seems like mine doesn't feel right.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Went from dull, rusty grill and headlight bezels to several coats of primer and paint. Wanted chrome, but budget won't allow it.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Last week, the trans cooler came loose from the mount and busted a hole in the radiator. So, had to replace that. While that was out, re-mounted the trans cooler with something more reliable than plumbers tape, replaced the hoses and belts, and completely flushed out the system. I had replaced the thermostat only six months ago, so that was still good.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I took the 68 to the shop today to have the rear end checked. I'ts been kinda noisy and clunky lately. Well the carrier's wore out and spider gears are pitted and the pinion bearing's bad so I'm going to have to open up the wallet for a rebuild. I'm having a posi put in while it's apart. Like my sig says, "Money is only a tool"

The paint is so chalky and dried out, more blue ends up on the pad than stays on than the truck.
I'd seen the jalopy guys do it. Thought I'd give it a go. Best $7.99 I've spent yet.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I gotta brag on finally finishing my suspension.
New tubular control arms up front (upper and lower).
Fixed the backwards drag link from previous owner. How could he not know when one tire is dragging around corners?
Added Ride Tech, Ride pro on all wheels.
Added Red Head short ratio power steering gear.

And finally today and yesterday I put sway bars on both ends.

Hell Yess. It drives so much better than when I bought it. I think I'll take it in for a final alignment at ride hight.
I took her out for a lot of corners today. Then I took her up to 110 mph on the highway. It drove great. LS1/ 4L60e combo just purred along.
Someone on this site suggested a No Limits rear top mounted sway bar because I have my compressors on the outside of my frame. It worked great.
