Re: Rustbuket 67 build "Georgia"

Hey Dan, wish my garage looked that clean. Probably cause I don't have a little helper like you do.

Had not seen any posts from you in a while. I guess you have been busy preparing for the new arrival!

I have a question for you. I remember seeing pics that you did most of your floor repair with the cab on the frame. Is that about right? I am thinking about removing the old cab, and putting the "new" cab on the frame to work on it. It would free up space in my garage, and make it easier for me to take parts off the old cab.

What do you think? Should I just continue working on it where it is or put it on the frame?

Re: Rustbuket 67 build "Georgia"

D it would be much easier off the frame in my opinion. I had to be a contortionist to make some of the repairs while on the frame. But then again I am getting pretty good at doing things the hard way.

Wow! You're doing it all the "right" way. I've taken a few more shortcuts to get my home/shop truck usable with plans to do suspension upgrades in the future. I'm actually glad I did so I can use your build for future planning. Thanks Dan and keep up the good work. AND DON'T RUN OVER YOUR DOOR!

Hey Dan, we have not heard from you in a while. I am guessing that maybe your new arrival made an appearance? If so, congratulations!

Also a few friends and their relatives who also lost homes and businesses. where I work is just south of the damage path by 1-2 miles and a lot of employees lived right there. Bad stuff happenend to a lot of people and their property but the property is just that and can be replaced. Thanks for checking on us.

That's some heavy news right there, I'm glad at least you guys are alright. I was wondering when you posted about moving your truck over so your wife could park inside if that would hinder your quick access to the shelter? I'm sure you have that part figured out, just don't block that sucker.

Glad to hear you are doing well and made it unscathed through the tornado. It's one thing to hear it on the news, and entirely more surreal to hear it directly from someone you know.

No little one yet, huh? Well, hopefully soon and then you can get back to the truck! Speaking of which, that sounds like something I need to do!

Actually the shelter door slides open on the floor toward the wall and they recommend you park over it so if your roof collapses it won't fall on the door or the area needed to open the door. In any event it is registered with the city so they come check on you if a tornado hits.
Thanks for the smilies, Ellie will love those.

Thanks D, The good looks are from my side

I got my from a arms assembled with Moog ball joints and cross shafts, upper and lower c-arm bumpers (bump stops) from Brothers Trucks, KYB shocks from Rock Auto, Lower arm U bolts from Napa, Western Chassis drop spindles from Brothers trucks. I reused the original shims, stripped and painted. All new hardware. The A-arms are powder coated, Ball joints, shafts, and shims are painted with seymour cast blast paint. Here are a bunch of pics coming up. The driver side pics are kind of dark so only a few of those..Rotors are at Oreilly auto being turned and should be a real rolling chassis real soon!
