Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

On the tcc i have it only locking up in 4th gear. It has no vaccum switch or any factory stuff. Just power, switch, solinoid, and 4th gear psi sensor. That is what i figured. I will get a tach soon and see what rpm it is really doing when it hits lockup.

I also am happy with exhaust for now. Still little anyouing but it is not as bad as it was.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

I used the Flowmaster mandrel bent tail pipes on my 81 K20 and they fit great.

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FLO-15803/

The rest of the system I built with a few mandrel U-bends and some lengths of straight pipe and a pair of 50-series Flowmaster mufflers.

I had under $400 into the whole system and it looked, worked & sounded great.

I assembled it all in my parking space at my old apartment and used a rented oxy-acetylene welder to put it all together just like the muffler shops did before they got MIG welders. I even used a hand held jig saw to cut the tubing to size. No fancy chop saws needed.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

Well figured i would get good breaks now that i have a good motor. Went out and got everything for the rears and rotors for the front. Have to take calipers off and match them up at store. Not looking forward to doing all this work. Also found water leak on my motor. Looks to be comming off of heater hose. Way to cold to fix it now. I am sure it seals up when it warms up. Also ordered all new brake cables for e brake so whiny babys dont give me crap about it this year during inspection time. Got cables from lmc.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

I used fbody headers. I picked some ceramic pacesetters for 100$! had to hammer a dent or two to clear the control arms, but overall they fit sweet. the driver side collector comes close to the frame rail, but the exhaust guy did had no problem getting it to work.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

I tryed dang fbody headers for the longest time. No way to make them work on my 4x4. BRPhotrods has a set of midlenghts that they have in a test truck that is 4x4 right now. If they work i will save my money to get some. Guy says on a 6.0 they added 38 rwhp. That is a bunch. But they are pricey too.

That looks damn good. Are you still in the Tyler area? P.S. I know of a very good exhaust shop that can fix you up right for a very good price. Every vehicle I have ever owned I have taken to him, and the work is always excellent, professionally welded, and exactly how I want it.

How are you liking the carb setup?

So this is the timing curve i am thinking of starting with. If yall have any input let me know. I can have up to 6 dots to curve the line. The low side is 12 degrees the high is 32

Can you adjust for load? My spark map looks like a spreadsheet with manifold pressure on the y axis and rpm on the x axis. Value in the cell is the advance.

I know what you mean about bein broke, it sucks! I like the idea of a modern motor with an old school carb setup, I bet that turns some heads for sure. what kind of MPG are you getting?
