There is some thin metal there and we may have to cut out and redo some sections. Also will have to pick myself up a stud gun cause it is starting to warp in some areas from the rotisserie. We should have welded up the back window before mounting it to the rotisserie and flipping it on its front to finish the floor. It was really frustrating, I really wish I had started with a rust free cab
Rust sucks probably the biggest problem with these trucks. Mine came from California but compaired to midwest trucks it is 99% rust free.

I'm trying to keep my spirits up and not let this rust conquer me. It is the last of the rust left to fix.

Then it's all downhill and you get to do more of the 'fun' stuff. There's something truly gratifying about knowing that your truck is completely rust free. Just drop your head and trudge through--it'll be over soon enough

Thanks for the encouragement buddy, it's just frustrating that 2 years of this build has been spent just fixing rust. I keep kicking myself, if I would have been patient and bought a rust free truck it would be done by now and I would be able to enjoy it. I'm just venting a little, sometimes you just have too.

I know how you feel. Sometimes for every step forward, you have to take two back. I know when I go to car shows now after having built a few, I have a whole new appreciation for the blood, sweat, tears, time and money that goes into these rascals.

Keep it up, your reward is going to be awesome.

Thanks, part of my problem is I want that reward now lol. I have to learn to be more patient.

Quick question, as I'm soon to be needing them, too: what did you use for lower shock mounts up front?

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB

I used the lower shock studs that came with my porterbuilt arms and shocks. The stud bolted to the arm and the shock bolted on the stud. Did you get your arms yet? Your using different shocks right?

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB

Arms should be here tomorrow. I did not order their shocks, as I'm using Bilsteins- dunno if they sent the studs or not. Was just curious, as I noticed that the mount is single shear, but hadn't seen any mention of how the shock mounts...

Thanks again for the info- you are most helpful

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB

Well this weekend I worked on switching out my stock trailing arm crossmember for the Porterbuilt tubular 2pc driveshaft one. I have to say I hate rivets, a total of 14 in the stock crossmember, boy it sucked. I will be running a 2pc driveshaft so it gave me the reason to switch over.

Also my brother welded up the bottom of my rear window channel and also started shaving my firewall by welding in most of my porterbuilt kit. Forgot to take pictures again, I will get some next weekend.

Mine was easy, just pulled the c-clips and pulled the axles out. Put new seals in the rear and replaced axles. I did one axle at a time, didn't have to mess with the carrier.
