Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Finally got the correct original style 710 cap for the oil fill neck and replaced the pcv grommet in the valve cover, old one basically fell apart when I tried to take it out.
Oh and fair warning, don’t buy Mr gasket products like that, I started to put a cap on my oil fill neck today and it fell apart and the base fell down into the oil fill neck, just barely stopped before it entered the manifold. Luckily Oreilys had a telescopic magnet. And made use of the long bed to haul some soffit and metal for the garage, hoping to start on the roof soon.

Finished my brakes and installed this Hickey bull bar. What a PITA. Nothing lined up right and it fought me all the way. It took some convincing but it worked. Like it.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
When my ball joint gave out, I ended up buying many new tools, so I know how that feels. I picked up a Ridgid impact gun trying to install the lower ball joints, but I needed heat. So, now the impact rides with me in my daily driver & works nice when I have to remove & install wheels.

Rear lowering springs going on over the last couple of evenings. Doing the dropped shackles and shocks with it too. Been fun fighting 51 years of rust.

I swapped out the sealed beams for some LEDs today. I am not done with them yet, so I don't have any nighttime shots.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Four 5-3/4" LED lights. That's it. I had a problem with one of the retainer rings being bent beyond repair & got a new set yesterday. I also went to Home Depot to get some stainless screws to replace the regular ones that were rusted to the headlight buckets. But, tonight was all about the results.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Had to do a radiator today. The old one had so many tubes cut and soldered, surprised it would cool. It let go in a big way yesterday. Got a Murray plastic & aluminum one at OReillys. Not a big fan of "made in china" but I needed it fixed today. It was a direct fit, no problems, no leaks. Trans cooling lines threaded right in. It does have the heater hose nipple in the tank, but came plugged and sealed already. If you need a cheap, quick fix, NOW, not a bad radiator.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Just finished a coat of paint on my engine block. Took over 2 hours to brush it on. Another two coats to go.
Not worth a picture yet, but these might be. I picked them up earlier in the week. The original hardware and replacements were zinc coated black & clear. Of all the original hardware I sent, just four didn't come out right. Two didn't come from this truck Either the threads were pitted, or I missed some lock tite, I'm guessing. On a side, not a fan of the "boss" where I had them done, and neither are his employees. I read that loud and clear before he "decided" to show up. After the fact he says black oxide is more durable than zinc plated. Course they don't do black oxide, he just thinks he knows something, and perhaps he does. I've read zinc is more durable than oxide, and for that matter, more durable than magnesium phosphate (original) too. Who knows. Turns out black oxide is five minutes from me. I stopped before and asked if they did oxide or phosphate, and was told nope. Probably didn't speak English......ha. Doesn't matter, the zinc came out better than I imagined.
