Re: What did you do to your truck today!
. Sunday buttoning up some stuff and installing the Bowtie Overdrives EZ TV cable system. Tomorrow, I will finish it up, cross my fingers, and hopefully go for a drive!![/QUOTE]
If that tranny doesn't shift well, get the Lokar tv cable. That will fix it. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Installed a new throttle assemble for the LT1 with a Lokar SS cable, layed out the new Techrods wiring harness on the engine (very well layed out), welded in the O2 bungs in my headers and finished installing the B&M Mega Shifter.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
yeah I was amazed how nice and taken care of the bumper is and got it for a steal when I was told the price was and offered the guy extra money for it as courtesy for the shape its in but he didn't want the extra money. For now it's a temp until I decided on if I'm wanting a roll pan or a sports or custom type bumper

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Broke my gear shift lever at the Chinese restaurant. Got home and replaced it with a spare. I guess with the cold weather the old grease is getting real hard in the column and it makes it hard to get into park. Where exactly is this grease? How far will I have to take the column apart to clean the old out and replace it?
I also started working on my back brakes. Took the passenger side drum offf and was surprised at how dry everything is back there. I got new wheel cylinders anyway but couldn't believe there are no no leaks. I took the drums in to check them to see if they could be turned thinking I could save a little money but the old ones were well out of spec. The new ones were over a 1/4 smaller inside diameter meaning mine were really worn out! Thank goodness for parts store gift cards and employee discounts!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Well isn't what I did today, but its part of the project I've been working on when I get time. Here is my attempt at repairing where a sunroof was installed. Sorry but didn't think to get a pic of the top before I started.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Painted my door panels and arm rests black to complete my black interior. I think they turned out really good but later I will buy some real black one.

Re : Column Shifter Service
Quote:
If the shift lever pivot pin is too loose & drifts out , get a cotter pin that fits snugly inside it and a flat washer that's snug on the cotter pin , cotter pin goes in the top , washer up from the bottom , spread the cotter pin to hold the washer in place with no free play then use dykes to trim off the excess cotter pin ends . Works like a charm & is nearly free , no one ever notices .

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
It was pi$$ing down rain so I went to Long Beach where there are many good Pick-A-Part Junkyards , wandered around and found a '53 DeSoto Taxi that had a Chevy 250 L6 in it that had the hard to find late model rocker box with the raised " CHEVROLET" letters and the correct later model smog hose connections , grabbed that and discovered they'd give me a 25 % discount for being stupid enough to be swimming in the oily water so I went back to the Hearse & grabbed my tool box and coveralls , spent the next 4 hours in the mud grabbing unobtanium suspension parts from Metropolitans and such.....
By the time I left , the sun was out , I was soaked head to toe but very happy indeed . There's a K5 (?) Blazer (square body , looks like my old '75) in there (Ecology Yard on West Lomita Blvd. Long Beach) with a very nice complete rear seat and other bits & bobs too in case there's any Blazer lovers here .

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I completed the TH400 to 700R4 conversion. Everything works!! All shift points are good. Need to re-bleed the brakes, a little spongy, but the Dana 60 I put in works great with that tranny!! Now, to see how much the gas mileage improves.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Bit of waxing, my girlfriend got me a bunch of stuff from LMC that I will be posting in the future. I also have a bucket seat/ megashifter conversion coming! Oh, does anyone know what it would take to convert my marker lights to the ones on the red C10 above me? |
