Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Bought a toolbox that I will be refurbishing to stick in the back. It is a drop in style so it will sit below the level of the side rails so it won't be seen easily. It's diamond plate but pretty beat up. I think it will be getting a coat of paint to match the truck.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Not exactly work on my truck, but I just spent the last hour and a half reinserting at least a dozen missing photos in my build thread that Imageshack unceremoniously feels a need to randomly drop. And I’m not done yet.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Bought the power steering kit from the Captain and picked up a 1.25" front sway bar from Pick and Pull. Ordered up the Energy Suspension bushings for it and I'm going to finish painting it up today.

I was thinking of using that silver Hammertone paint on the sway bar to give it some colour. How durable is that stuff?

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Continued with tear down this past weekend. Hadn't planned on removing the cross member, but could not think of a good reason not to once that was all that was left attached to the frame. Actually, cleaning, degreasing, and rust removal will be a TON easier with it off

Now time for rust removal, then POR15 on the frame.

i DID THE SILVER ACCENTS ON OTHER ITEMS, IT DOES HELP TO DRAW OUT SOME DETAIL. KIETH

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Finished welding up and smoothing out the last holes in the cowl area, rear of cab interior, and repair of the top of the dash (replaced speaker grill and fixed dents in the dash). This is the last repairs of literally 100s of holes the PO drilled throughout the cab and floor. Time to put the cab back on the chassis and get it ready for real bodywork and paint...

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Took the truck out this morning to shoot a few photos, and discovered the pesky and irritating windshield trim squeak had returned. So this afternoon I spent another couple hours with a blade like jewelers file and opened up a good size gap between the two upper pieces. Hopefully this will be the last time it needs attention because it's miserable working on that spot with the hood in place.

Well seeing everyone working on their trucks here lately made me do a little tinkering while she's down.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Went out to try and fire her up for a little drive.....and no start. This carb is junk, and I'm tired of messing with it. So I guess she sits until I can get the Caddy engine in, or I figure something else out.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

(technically this weekend, but this is the first chance I've had to post it)
Replaced the valve cover & pushrod cover gaskets. Repainted all the pieces I took off. Since I can't find the correct engine color I went with GM blue.

Started laying sound deadener down, I've only done the middle area as I still need to finish rust repair & repainting at the sills, and get the rest of the old insulation off the firewall.

A few more today...
I'm using Cold Drawn Steel. All steel used on my truck is Cold Drawn Steel.
Will add more of the progress later.
