It really was too good to pass up. I would have rather have a 383, but this was half the cost |

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
The frame is back home! Now it's time to get something going! If it's nice weather next weekend, I may try to paint the new engine and get'er dropped in!

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
Ok, so no paint but I did get the engine dropped in the frame. It fits pretty well. The headers even fit! I'm not happy that the P.O. bashed in the side of the header to clear the oil filter. There is an adapter for the oil cooler that would cause interference with the headers. I think there would have been a better way to solve the clearance issue.

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
Also, I found another thread with an awesome method to relocate the TCase shifter, so I'm going to steal that idea and use it on mine.

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
Thanks!!! I'm kind of at a stand still now. I'm not sure where to go next. It's too cold to paint, so I don't want to rip anything off this engine. I don't have any of my body mounts yet, so I can't test fit the cab. I guess I could run the return line for the fuel pump, but I'm really not sure what to do...

Thanks Mike! I'm excited...Now if I could just figure out my next move I'd be in good shape.

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
Glad you got the engine decided on and acquired. When I hit a point that I'm not sure what to do next, I remember that there are about a million things that are going to have to go back onto or into the truck that need cleaned/reconditioned/rebuilt/whatever that I could be getting ready. Not that I usually let that sidetrack me from being stumped but it is a thought.

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
Ha...yeah, there are a ton of things I need to do. I'm thinking my next move is going to be to buy the body mounts and get the cab back over so I can see if moving the 4wd shifter will be enough to clear the seat. At least that will give me an excuse to see the cab on the frame

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
Well boys and girls, I've ordered the complete body mount hardware! Maybe next weekend....or the weekend after, I'll bring the cab over so I can see how well the sticks fit through the floor!!!

I agree a 100%, the story alone is worth the effort. Good luck!
