Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?

For you guys in central Texas I found this gem. Not sure of the mileage but it's complete. The spare in the back is 5 lug.

Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?

not the most original, but this old girl is worth mentioning..
hauled fire wood, cattle feed, hay bales, crop seed, fertilizer, green walnuts, you name it, this truck hauled it..

home on the farm where it lived a long and fruitful life
I grew up [figuratively speaking] with this truck, first on highway vehicle I ever drove..

after Dad passed and Mom was unable to drive it, I had it shipped here for safe keeping..
Grandpa's Chevy sedan of same era was sold for $500 after I joined the Navy in the 80's

rolled off the transport with 69k.. little driving around to get weight slip and tags put it just over 70k on the clock..
bought a full set of belts from seat belt planet.. kinda like to leave it but a must have for my family..

after a good bath and pressure washing at work..

interior is fully intact, even the radio works

seat is out for re upholstery, major mouse house, no way around it..
6 months of samples and wrong material shipped, this has been a major pita..

found a nice set of solid wheels complete with new tires..
the original snap rings have too much rust and metal loss, and it needed tires from this century
I have a quote for STA farm skinnies to order when I find a home for these..

added some lmc mirrors, finding a green matching rh hasn't panned out..
I remember the ride to town when it was smacked off when I was a kid..
had some plates made with Dad's initials and name of the farm..

I've completely dismantled the interior for cleaning, hosed out about a hundred wasp nests..
cleaning, cleaning, cleaning, and more cleaning.. got a few knobs and levers to replace but it's all there fully functional..
fun little project that's still driveable even without an interior

1964 C-30 with 49,000 original miles, it was on a dairy ranch in Yerington, Nevada and parked in a barn most of it's life.

Found this truck for sale! Looks to be pretty original and at a fair price. Only thing I am not sure about is "6000' is what I think it says underneath the badge. Has anyone seen this before?

GVW some states require it be on the side of the truck (maybe a farm truck)

Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?

Maybe not a true original but we restored it as am original. 1960 Chevrolet Apache 10. 235, hydraulic clutch with correct bellhousing (searched all over for one!), granny low 4spd sm420, rear gears I believe are 3.90s. Got it when I was 12, worked on it with my dad for about a year and a half. Then I continued working on it under an awesome bodyman/painter. There we finished a little over a year later. The only thing we did that's not original is a split manifold (not headers) and 30" glasspacks out back. I drive it a ton but now it's in for winter. I make it a somewhat daily driver. Very cautious how and where I drive it. I'm on original style guy! Customs and hot rods are cool but I'm really into original! And that's the way we restored it! No one my age likes a 6 cylinder but that's the way I like it. In the pictures is my pickup and I with my mentor with his 55 Chevy I'm gonna help him with restoring. That was this last July. Got that crazy restoration bug inside me!

Nate

Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?

Thank you guys! It's been a passion I'm gonna stick to! Already lining out to do a '49 Chevy 2 dr Deluxe Styline (two door sedan car) with 216 and 3spd. Also the 55 Chevrolet Del Ray in the pictures. And a 54 Bel Air with 235 and powerglide, 51 Chevrolet club coupe, 216, 3spd. 47 Chevrolet Pickup with GMC 302 "big six" and trans is not yet figured out. And a customer 48 Chevrolet 2 door Styline. All the car belong to the body man other than the 48. Much to look forward to and enjoy. And there are still more to come in the future!

Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?

Thanks Bruce , there goes my chances of owning that one.........LOL . Seriously though , this truck is a perfect example of how a white, or off white, truck with the B98 side molding trim option really looks. Meaning , 1 , no other chrome , just factory ordered side moldings over white paint. And , 2 , NO red insert paint or Black insert paint between the moldings on the door and bed . You would have thought that since white trucks are the only ones with black tailgate letters that they would have carried that over to the side moldings , but they did not. This sure is a virgin truck in so many respects.

It also blows out another theory. Notice the steering wheel. 66s used three different wheels. This truck has the same steering wheel as a custom 66 would have instead of the previous year 1965 style plain wheel that was also carried into 66. I was starting to see a pattern that 66s in C20 and up plain janes received the 65 wheel, as it was a beefier wheel compared to this thinner design Nova steering wheel for 66 . NICE TRUCK !!

Although not original it has a ton of NOS parts on it and is at least 98% restored to original.

I love the attention to detail you put into it Kelvin. It turned out beautiful. Although not the most original per this thread, it definitely needs to also be shown in the factory correct restoration thread.

Been keepin tabs on that one Bruce, it caught my eye too. Nice looking truck. Seller mentions in the text, but seems to go out of his way to not show a very telling picture of the driver's side door dent. One pic kinda shows it. Still, it IS a real nice truck, the dent could probably be fixed w/o much effort and hopefully with minimal or no paint. The radio has me stumped. Not original, at least the knobs anyway, and has a mounting plate that is usually used to hide a hacksaw job. But, most folks don't swap an original radio for an AM radio of near-same-vintage. Interesting. And I like the knobs! Ha. Hope someone here buys this, it's hard to find originals these days.

Also, glad to see the Lampassas swb was bought by a member - congrats! I posted that one a while back, then just noticed today someone posted it in this thread. It was a local rancher's truck and he had clearly hauled some cattle in that bed, the cage wasn't just to impress the local cowgirls! It was a cool truck, looked at it in person and ALMOST jumped on it. Glad you got it Rustylew! Funny, I just moved from Mesa a few years back, there were some good finds out there as well. Looking forward to some updates on that great little C10.
