Thanks... I have until May to get it finished. Although with the crazy weather we have been have here some days have looked tempting to take it for a whirl down the street.

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

Got some work done after dinner. Got my wiring hooked up and ready to be hooked up. I will order new tail lights tomorrow.

I also got my grill painted up. I think it turned out good. I will let it harden up and I may do some detail painting on it.

It is trailer wire. It was a 4 wire on the dump setup, just replaced it with a protected wire.

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

Curiosity got the better of me this morning and I put my grill on to see how it looks. I do not know if I am sold on the colour yet.

If I keep I will be painting the bowtie either yellow, or possibly blue?

I also thought about doing the grill in yellow metal cast...

Or I may just keep it, I have been looking at yellow and black for so long that a new colour seems out of place...ha.

I hear ya, I have seen a lot of pictures of them, but have yet to find one. I have found a couple, but the owners will sell me the grill if I buy the entire truck... ha.

Thanks for the compliment.

That color looks great on your grill. You should keep it, and add some more. Maybe paint the bumpers too.

Paint the bowtie black and the raised border yellow or vice versa to make it pop a little more. It looks great.

I agree, grill looks great. Expands the color spectrum a little. Paint the bowtie black with yellow outline and it'll look great.

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

So I am getting closer to doing the interior, as you have all viewed the metal color inside is the same as the outside...

So I am looking at interior pieces and thinking either saddle or black. Quite frankly I like both colors a lot, however not sure if the saddle will look out of place with the yellow.

I do plan on tinting the windows and am wondering if a black interior will flow better.

On the other side of the coin, this is strictly a summer driver, and only has manual a/c, aka roll down the windows. Will the all black be a little hot on the backside?

Any thoughts?

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

I think Saddle would be a better choice. I would go saddle and yellow with some black accent pieces. Having just Yellow and black would make the truck look to commercial IMO. I usually don't like yellow and black, or red and black, together with out another colour there to break up the contrast.

I like the way the grille turned out.

I'm with saddle. I think it would set it off from the rest of the truck.

Yes, they did. GM built the truck, then shipped it to Marmon-Herrington in Louisville to install the 4x4 drivetrain.

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

Well last week I got some box caps and weather strip and a few other miscellaneous pieces from a supplier of GM truck parts... Unfortunately the caps fit like ...., lets just say not how I wanted.

It was also bent and dinged up. Still waiting to see what their response will be.
