Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
It's been 30 years ago since I rebuilt a power box and now remember why. What a pain getting all 26 BB's back in the right way. I'm on try #8 now and took a break.

Back tracking a bit to Fri. I got the heads on and torqued. Also installed the lifters, rocker assemblies and set the valves. First pic using a thread chaser to clean out head bolt holes.

So today I decided the engine had to be Chevy orange and I proceeded to prep and paint the thing with VHT engine enamel. Painted the water pump cast aluminum also. Stuck the intake on to get a look see and I can tell I'll be shopping for some more classy valve covers.

Took the doors apart to replace the locks. Lubricated the regulator, rollers in the glass channel and used a dry lube on the glass run channels. Cleaned and polished the door trim with 0000 steel wool, repainted the black and installed new woodgrain tape.

I changed out my heater core. Got home Friday from work and my passenger side floor was wet and smelled like antifreeze.

PICS! Lots of them. I'm about to do this. There's a couple great threads on it already but more always help. I'll be doing this same thing before too long.

Worked out the bugs with making a fixed center seat a folding center seat. Had to take it all back apart and add some grease to certain spots and add a hard back for where your arm goes.

Yeah well ;
I can't weld either . I can tune the crap out of old engines and build 'em, do all the repairs etc. but making 'em look sharp isn't my forte' and I hate 'patina' 'cause when I were a laddie it meant : you're a broke ass Country Boy...... . .

I know what you mean. We were so poor we didn't even have a rug to pull up to watch the floor show.

Here We Go........

Wow ~ you had a TELEVISION ?! . We had two old pre war Jhonny - Poppers, a '35 'A' model and a '37 'B' model, we couldn't afford $9 for a new battery so we spun the flywheel by hand . Ouch . I'm sure others here will chime in with their poverty stories, living on a Dairy Farm I didn't skip many meals so I wasn't worried about any $ .
