Here are the holes I did for the cold air intake and with the grill back on they do not show at all. Should be plenty of air for these motors. Sorry but my battery died in my camera after this shot.

Thanks for the props and shot of the cold air intake holes. Wish I was there on the project.

As for the kit, maybe they accidentally sent you a kit that had been returned to them, but with stuff missing?

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

The fuse block in the left floorboard will unhook from the harness. There are a few regular style plugs on the backside and then a few where you have to unscrew the 7mm bolt from the top side them pull the plug out from the backside of the block. After that you can pull the wires through the hole in the firewall.

You are correct, but I really didn't want to mess with it/tear up anything while it was so difficult to get at. Now that it is all apart and on the floor, I may pull it apart to ease the install.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

What is that saying about skinning a cat????

I got a little creative today and pulled the cab back 4 feet on the frame to reveal the engine and trans/transfer case. This will be much easier than fighting it out of the rails and under the firewall.

Pulling the cab back was a piece of cake and made it so much easier to work on. See the electric come-along???
Tandem Schwinn is my wife's Christmas present 2 years ago.

No, I am just using the engine, wiring, and rear axle from this truck because it had such low mileage. The transmission I'm using is from the same truck as the 2wd frame you see. It had a 4.6 liter and a lot more miles or I might have used everything from it.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

WOW.
That was a beast. Can't imagine how hard it would have been with the cab in the way. I wanted to pull it all together so as to not tear up anything with the trans or torque converter. I then could very carefully divorce them on the ground with no damage. I degreased with some Krud Kutter and then powerwashed. I got it in the shop right before the thunderstorms hit. Maybe tomorrow I can get the 2wd transmission bolted up and set that dude in the frame.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

The engine cleaned up nicely except white chalky deposits on the cast aluminum. Does anyone have a solution to clean it up. I need something to spray on - no way to get even a tooth brush sized wire brush in all the crevices.

You're certainly welcome. Any time.

When you find out the best cleaning method, you'll know it

Honestly the only thing I could think of was a dremel with a polishing tip...that might work....

I am a homebuilder by trade and we are always modifying, upgrading, adding on, something. Good advice still though.
My wife reads all the posts, and she likes Darren a LOT now.
