Re: Project Lemon Drop: anything but stock!
67Cheby is correct. Im not a fan of exposing the cross over, so I came up with a way to hide it in the door panel, but still make it accessiable. The rectangle shape will be a removable access door.

Re: Project Lemon Drop: anything but stock!
Today I covered the pods with resine and two coats of glass. I have to do some patches around the edge, where the pod connects to the MDF. I think they turned out OK for my first fiberglass job. Tomorrow I will work on the map pocket and glass that up. After that I think a coat of bondo to, then sand to smooth them out. I test fited it again, to make sure it did not hit the seat.

Re: Project Lemon Drop: anything but stock!
I wasn’t sure how I wanted to make the map pocket, so I thought I would try an experiment. I took a piece of floral foam, cut it to fit the map pocket area and then shaped it. I covered it with masking tape and coated the tape with car polish. I laid down some glass, let it dry and then pulled them apart.
It started to rain so I could not do much more. If I like it, I will cut the opening and then graph it onto the speaker pod.

Nice! I really enjoy reading the builds here. Everyday I see board members coming up with new innovating ideas to fab custom parts for their trucks.

Re: Project Lemon Drop: anything but stock!
The floral foam did not work out the way I thought, so I scratched that idea and tried something else. It turned out okay. Next I will mix up a bit of body filler, cover it and then smooth out the imperfections. Then on to the arm rest.

Re: Project Lemon Drop: anything but stock!
The other thing I been working on is getting the front Boss 338 Wheels to fit. I went to napa and bought some new front disk hups. I was talking with Mike or "mcbassin" on milling the hubs. I took the new hubs and one of the Boss 338 3AA 20x8.5 wheels to a local machine shop and had them mill down the hup. It did not take much and the wheels fit without a 1/4 inch spacer. Another bonus is that the wheel cap also fits with the hub dust cap installed. Next I will have to remove the old disk hubs and install the new milled ones.

Re: Project Lemon Drop: anything but stock!
Alright, new front disc hubs, and bearing. I test fitted the wheels and wheel caps, all good with no spacer. Now I just need to save some money to buy some Toyo tyres

Re: Project Lemon Drop: anything but stock!
Thanks, there were a few people, including my wife, who said that I should have gone with the grey Boss 338s. But I'm glad I stuck with the Chrome. I cant wait to get the tyres.

Re: Project Lemon Drop: anything but stock!
Today I did some more work on my door panels. I worked on the speaker pod/map pocket. I put a layer of body filler on it and sanded and sanded and sanded. After sanding I found some areas that needed some more attention. So I put some more body filler and sanded some more. They looked pretty good, but still have a few areas that need some more filler. I will try to get to them this weekend.
I was thinking about covering the speaker pods with vinyl, but I think I will just paint them a charcoal grey to match the interior color. I was also thinking about giving them a textured look, maybe like bed liner. Not sure yet. I still have to figure out how the door handles will work. I also cut out some cardboard templates for the kick panel area. Now I just have to decide what I want to do with them.

Re: Project Lemon Drop: anything but stock!
Sorry, Nothing to report. I been a little lazy and busy with other things. I was going to try this weekend. I will post some progress pics soon.
I just got a new intermediate brake cable and put it next to the other new one I had that was too short. Boy what a difference, seems like a foot or more difference. I havn't tried it yet, but I hope they didn't send me a long bed cable.
