Warming it up with the hair dryer helped the most although and extra set of hands would have helped to keep the bead lock straight as I worked it in. The heat helped take the dimple out of the corners in the seal where it makes a sharp turn. Other than that it was slow going in but no problem with a bead tool...Vernski

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Made one heck of a deal on this:

$200

Big back window cab with decent doors, custom cab flags and both vent window assemblies work. It's a short wheel base frame that I don't need and I will be left with a driver's vent window and both door windows and regulators.

All in all, after I scrap my bed, cab and doors and some other metal, I will be out about $50 or so.

For a big back window cab, I think that rocks!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Me too.
Great buy.

Did it come with a title?
That would make it an excellent buy!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

No titles in Alabama on anything before 69. (it may be 70).

So, a bill of sale is all you need.

I am going to use this VIN because I paid more for the first truck and it's been 2 years since I bought it and didn't license it.

I wish I could trade the parts I have left for some wheels and or trim, but, I don't know of anyone local who would do it. Oh well, I may just ebay the extras.

Do you attribute this nice find to luck or to clean and honest living?

Starting mockup of the rear sway bar. I have ordered the splined bar and can mount the bushing brackets then.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

The cab had some bonuses I did not know about when I got there to pay for it!

I am going to post pics and more details in my build thread tonight.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Went out to Seguin, TX to John's and found some parts. Now I just need the rest of the bed.

The bumper and the hazard flasher switch are my favorite finds though.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Yesterday I may have turned my car into a donor for the truck after all.

I hit a patch of ice on the exit of a corner, rolled it like a boss. Waiting for word on the insurance, but I might be using the suspension afterall.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Ouch!

Between Friday night and today, I pulled the front fenders, bumpers, and bed, replaced the points and condenser, only to find that the coil was dead. I also compiled a big list of parts that I'll be ordering tomorrow and Monday. Just getting started on this one.

Had to remove the newly installed wiper motor and washer pump assy, just to install a homemade dual in dash speaker. I used 2 4"dia speakers in the place of the single OEM speaker

Hx16457 - I love the look of your truck. The Nomad paint scheme really sets it off. I can't wait to see it finished! Fantastic work you've done!!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Finally got the shift linkage in to complete the convert back to a column shift and took it for a test drive. Worked great! Some minor adjustments needed still to get the PRNDLL to line up properly with the proper gear but it works. Then comes the removal of the old floor mount unit the PO jimmy rigged up and replacing the tranny hump with one that is uncut. Progress is slowly being made.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

removed the rear step from the donor last night.

Today I stripped everything off of the donor except the windshield. Going to leave it until we move the cab onto my frame.

Also, my son removed the crappy floor patches that had been pop riveted in.
