Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
New project 87 gmc r15 just swapped the stock 305 tbi out for a 406 475 horse and a built turbo 350 trans. Pic is from when I purchased it a few weeks ago.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
i have a very clean 87 long bed with the tbi 305.I'm looking for somebody thats knowledgable about these engines.Iwant to do some upgrades but from what I understand about the only thing you can do is either yank every thing and go back to carb or install the one cam upgrade available and call it good.I hears theres just no way to work with this computerized ignition on this year.any help advice would be great.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
If you can tune a carb, you can swap the ECU for MegaSquirt, and tune the TBI for whatever you want. Cheaper than buying a new carb. And you don't even have to smell like gasoline after tuning. Heck, I don't even shut the engine off.
The learning curve is a bit rough at the start though. But if you can tune a carb, you can tune MegaSquirt.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
I'm with everybody else, that's a really nicely done truck. Love the gray/silver two tone, the sport bumper out back, the low profile tool box...pretty much everything

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
Thanks for the compliments. The dash is a cover from LMC. The seats came from Ebay.
I have to remove the plastic bedliner and get one sprayed in soon...It had an over the side plastic liner that I cut the bed rail section off with a saw so I could paint the truck, but still have the plastic liner to protect against spilled paint/bondo etc. The carpet came from ebay also (about $150) |

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
Here's mine, traded off my '97 camry that I've had since I was 15 for it (Turned 21 about a week ago). Camry had 220k on it, not sure of actual milage on this bad boy. But it's an 86 GMC, SBC350, TH700.
This is actually my first post in the forums, as I was getting on to ask where to buy a cheap 350 rebuild kit locally since I blew a head gasket this morning on my way to work, and thought I'd post up a pic of mine!! After the rebuild I wanna go with a 6/8 drop, got a set of rally's a few weeks ago on craigslist for $100 with rings and caps, then a buddy of mine is going to paint it and all that will be left is finishing off my interior. Any ideas for me?! |
