Re: My Crew Cab Short Bed Project, AKA "Project Destiny"
I was just wishing I had a recovery machine..... I'm in the process of pulling a vacuum on the truck with a new compressor as we speak

Re: My Crew Cab Short Bed Project, AKA "Project Destiny"
I bet the machine we have has already paid for itself. Not having to vend cars out for an AC charge is worth it in itself, but to be able to make a profit now with it, well that is what the game is all about right?
The heat has just zapped me today, literally. I need to mow, I need to get some stuff done on my truck, I need to do a few honeydos at the shop.... just not gonna happen today it seems. Shows 101.5 on my back porch, in the shade, 40% humidity. |

I would say that's more important given the forecast for the next 7 days.

Re: My Crew Cab Short Bed Project, AKA "Project Destiny"
Looks kinda like my crew was when putting the flip kit on it. Except, without a severe thunderstorm with possible tornado bearing down on it lol.

Re: My Crew Cab Short Bed Project, AKA "Project Destiny"
That new high $$$ compressor looks good in there! Glad to hear your back up and running. I am going to try to finish this one tomorrow. I'm thinking I may have a leak?
I would like to score a posi rear end too. |

Re: My Crew Cab Short Bed Project, AKA "Project Destiny"
They're easier to sand on while not on jack stands.
As hot as it is, I think I'd be out there right now. Hang a bug zapper at each neighbors corner, and work with a drop light. Actually was down to 91 when I came home a few minutes ago. |

Re: My Crew Cab Short Bed Project, AKA "Project Destiny"
That new a/c compressor looks so nice and clean. Now you're going to have to start cleaning up the rest of the engine bay.

Re: My Crew Cab Short Bed Project, AKA "Project Destiny"
sorry to see the 80 go...wish I had the extra cash to keep it in the family. Looks like you made some serious progress on the crew! BTW, I wish I had a freon recovery system too.

Rock on man that looks good. Like Mike said I hate to see the 80 go, but I know how that has been a real stresser for ya. Glad to see someone else enjoy it, a new member perhaps?

Re: My Crew Cab Short Bed Project, AKA "Project Destiny"
I think you should make your rear ride height the way it is in the pic, and then make the front match
Looking good. Glad you found some lug nuts.

Re: My Crew Cab Short Bed Project, AKA "Project Destiny"
Where is your compressor from?
Did you replace an older working model? If you did replace an older one, what kind of difference have you noticed? The A/C in my 78 Silverado was updated to the new Freon type, but the compressor is original. The air is very cold, but the compressor bogs down my engine every few seconds. It feels like an 80 mph gust of wind slams into the front of my truck, slows down, and then goes away... I would really like to know if a new compressor would fix this... Thanks!
