My wife works with the mother of one of the audio guys that worked for them. She said that the owners wife took $50,000 and left him, and this is why they have had all of their project trucks and such on craigslist so he could try to keep afloat. I don't know how much of this is true, but thats the talk from one of the employees.

Re: Project "My Happy Mess"

Thanks Jim and Low. The purple people eater clashes with its own interior. The car was originally brown, so is the interior - still. The garage turned out nice, 36'x24' deep. 12'x24' designated shop area. It'll be different having a new garage with a new 71' sitting inside. All of the wood shown to build the bench was left over from the construction.

Thanks In that picture, it is zero rust red that was a deep red like maroon. I painted it later with a black undercoating.

Re: Project "My Happy Mess"

Nice work on your garage! Did I see where you were building corner shelves? I'd really like to take time and build shelves for mine some day! How soon is your truck getting new paint? And does your brother want more work? The guy that painted my truck didn't do a very good job and I'm going to have it redone before spring. And I have a 76 K30 I'd like to get sprayed too.

Re: Project "My Happy Mess"

nah, it's a mistake. Thanks Ryan My truck was to be my brother's last LARGE project. Not sure he'd want more. We'll be getting back to work on the truck soon (next week). No corner shelves in the garage, but I have some plywood left over for a later project (couple more shelves). The purple disco vette, before the guy took it home, my brother told him to bring it back later and he'll finish sanding / buffing. The guy said ok, but turns out he took some sand paper to it himself and screwed up the whole thing. Sanded through many places and sanded all edges. Totally messed it up. for him

Re: Project "My Happy Mess"

Man, some people don't have a clue huh? He was probably thinking he'd save some money but now it'll cost him double. That is the exact reason why I don't like final sanding for a buff. I hate going through!

Re: Project "My Happy Mess"

yeah, he shouldn't have done it.
I guess you're not suppose to sand the edges either.

It doesn't take long to screw up the edges. I remember learning how to color sand and buff in college. There were 27 guys in my class and dang near as many screwed up panels on the first try. It got easier as the time went on and I got good at it. Now I havn't buffed anything in about 8 years and would be nervous the whole time.

Maybe he could take the disco vette to Warren County Customs for a sweet repaint.
