Re: 58 GMC Project

That was very informative reading! I learn a lot from that and don't feel so bad for paying what I did for the Dynamate.

When I was your age I was only dreaming of being able to build a custom truck as I drove my beaters. Now I'm 44 and just now at a point in my life were I can do this. Stay in college, get your degree and find one of those high paying job and you want have to wait until your 44 like me!

HAHA yeah, but it's so much more fun driving around a badass truck at 23, getting looks from the dumb teenagers, ladies, and cool old guys LIKE YOU, HAHA, just busting your chops, gorgeous truck man, keep up the hard work. I am actually on my way to pick up my brakes, so i can add them to the pile of **** that won't go on the truck yet.

The carpet install is almost finished along with the center console, door panels and cab back. I need to install the kick panels still. Here's a few pics

Every time you post pictures I say that truck is going to be a winner in a lot of shows.
What color are the seats and what is the length of that Lokar shifter?

CAL 58-

Is that a Rod doors interior? If so how did you attatch the pieces to your truck. I have herd that the velcro method that they recommned does not work all that great.

Thanks for sharing.

Your right about the velcro, it's crap and starts to fall off after a few days. I will end up using screw to hols the panels in place.

isnt it possible to use recessed pushbuttons normally used for clothes it might be able to epoxy the female part on the back of the doorskin and poprivet the male side to the door you need to recess them or there be a gap between the door and the skin

Thanks man! The bad news is I'm not going to make Brothers again this year. The company I work for is going live on a major project that I'm leading. So bad timing will keep me from Brothers show again.

Why not use the door panel clips like on the mid 60's gm cars?? It would be a shame to use screws in my opinion.

Your truck is really an inspiration to me and the details along the way have given me some ideas to use on mine. Nice work and I agree, it would do VERY well in all the car shows I have attended.

Your right about the screws. I would rather not use them. Watahyahknow had a good idea using epoxy to hold snaps to the panel an screwed to the door.

Thanks for the complement also!

Re: 58 GMC Project

Okay, check it out. Last night I thought to myself, hay since I can drive my truck why not jump in and drive her to one of the local cruise in car shows, not to enter but just to hang out. So my son and I headed on over. When I pulled up one of the guys that runs the show came up and asked me if I wanted to enter. Knowing my trucks not completed I told him, no, I don't thank so. He says, we would really like to have you sign up, it's only $5. Well....okay, I replied back. It was pretty cool, after my two year build up and my truck was in its first show! So I'm thinking to myself, my truck could be in the under construction class. So now it comes time to give out the awards. The guy says, and the winner for under construction class is....the 1955 Chevy truck. Well that was not mine, it was a stock primer gray truck. So I thought, okay, that’s cool. So they continue with the awards as I'm headed for my truck to get ready to leave and I hear my name! What? Me? Well guess what? I won first place for best interior!! Wow my first show win!
