Re: My long term 57 project
This is not a picture of my actual seat, but it's exactly how mine started.
The only part of the original seat used was the bare metal frame. I did cut approx. 2in from the seat back so that it's not seen through the back glass!

Re: My long term 57 project
It was a little though getting it in by myself, but I was determined to make it happen before my Dad arrived so he could see it done!!
The seat has completely changed to look of the interior! It's awesome in my opinion and all my buddies at the Saturday Hot Rod lunch were completely blown away. But the best part was seeing my Dads reaction to the seat and the Venom mufflers!!!

Re: My long term 57 project
Do you have any more pics of seat frame? Was wondering how plywood is attached to frame?

Re: My long term 57 project
Just to reduce the seat bottom from "oil canning" flexing.

Re: My long term 57 project
Seat and door panels look great! It looks like it could have been made that way from the factory. Well done.

Re: My long term 57 project
Finished up my interior upgrade with a custom headliner. It was a tough decision to pull down the original headliner as it was still perfectly glued in place!
The original rubber trim was very brittle and broke into a 100 pieces as I removed it. The cab interior must have been silver originally and was repainted red with the rubber trim in place, so when I removed it there was a silver edge all the way around the headliner opening. I taped around the raised edge, scuffed it and sprayed it with the same paint that was used on the door panels and seat frame. I made sure to mark the centerline on both the roof and the back of the headliner. Sprayed on a good coat of contact cement on both and pressed it in place and tucked the edges in between the two roof panels. For my first attempt at doing this type of install I think it turned out great with just a couple small wrinkles!! The seat, door panels and headliner have totally changed the look and feel of my old beater truck!!

Re: My long term 57 project
Absolutely stunning interior. I'm thinking of switching from black exterior to red. These trucks look amazing in red!

Re: My long term 57 project
Very nice job on the headliner! JJ, you mentioned this is the first time you've done this. Sure can't tell. Did you take a class, or training or just jumped in and figured it out?
