Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

Make sure they will fit over the center hub on the rear diff , I have a pair of 17" American Torque Thrust S/T's and they wont fit over the center on the rear diff of my 68 rear axle , bolt pattern is correct, just the center hole is to small..... Anyone got any Ideas ?

If you can make them work,... I would.
Aren't you going to have to run a spacer on the rear?
Seems like they are 20x8's (maybe 8.5's) with a 5" backspace
.

I agree^^^. They may not fit the old style front and rear hubs.

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

i switched my 67 rear axle for a 69 up rear axle.... the wheels i have now are 20x9's and they set perfect without running a spacer , that is why i switched rearends, i didnt want to run a spacer but i also didnt want the wheels to set real far in !!! i think they will set perfect , i have cpp rear disc set up, i dont think i should have a fitment problem but i will see tonight

Most machine shops can easily machine either the hub flange on your axles so it is small enough to fit into your wheels or cut a relief into the hub recess in your wheels to match the hub flange.

I would have them make your wheels hubcentric to match the hub flange on your axles if there is enough depth in the wheel mounting face to still mount your center cap. Takes some load off the lug nuts and makes the wheels stronger.

I can't see much of a different between the two wheels other than the finish. Just go with what YOU like though -- it'll be in your garage so get what YOU think looks killer. Ever think about black chrome for the wheels against that Mercedes silver paint?

I too feel that there's not a big diff in the wheels. Price plays a huge factor in my project, so in my mind, I'd base it on the cost

Black chrome on a silver paint sounds pretty cool too! I've only seen the black chrome spray paint...is there really a way to plate in black chrome?

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

well looks like my old wheels stay , to many modifications to make the new wheels work, the back would have to be bored out to fit or spacers used, the fronts with the dust covers off the center cap still wont fit, i guess you could use a spacer on the front and then glue on the center cap ......so i am just going to stick with my old wheels

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

Just read through this whole thread , nice job. The bear claw pics you saw were done that way because I didn't want the actuators in the doors and I could completely shave the door and pillar.
Nearest I can figure your thread is gonna cost me about a grand due to KP components
