Re: My 50 roadster pickup build

Hope you guys and gals are ready for another of my trips. At least once a year a few of us get together and cruise down to Gaston's Resort in Arkansas. It's about 170 miles round trip, is in the Ozarks so nice views, and lots of curves, which I enjoy, just a nice trip. We have bunch at Gaston's, watch some planes, go to the dam, and then back home. Hope you enjoy the pics.

Pic 1 View from dinning area on lower level.
Pic 2 Some of the planes that had landed earlier.
Pic 3 Their grass runway.
It's amazing how many planes land here, eat and then take off.

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build

Pic 1 This was the smallest plane that took off, here's he's revving it up.
Pic 2 Going down the strip.
Pic 3 Finally off the ground about 3/4 way down.
We watched 5 planes take off and all the rest where up just past the picnic tables.
Pic 4 Front of Gaston's, it has 3 levels.

Pic 1 and 2 are on the way home, somewhere in Arkansas, not the views I wanted, but when your alone, have to turn on the camera, then take the pic, your passed the view (ha ha).
Pic 3 My GPS with the milage, etc. Left about 8:00 this morning and got back to my house at 3:00 p.m.

Was a great day for a cruise...Jim

Thanks Doug,
Cruising with friends makes it fun. Cloudy and overcast all day. Started out about 50* then got to around 60*, but with friends, your in your ride, can't make it much better. Driving them is what it's all about...Jim

Flying your own plane in for lunch is where the phrase "$100 Cheeseburger" comes from!!

Thanks Ray, I agree about the driving. Coming back home there were two of us together, running two lane blacktop, just got into a groove engine rpm, etc. Made me think the first 50 miles from West Plains to Gainesville, was the same road you drove to get to West Plains from Branson (160),last 50 for you, so you know the road, hills and curves...Jim

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build

We are going to try and get down again next summer, Eve says we have to tear up those roads and ride the curves. I don't know how to get the truck and the Harleys down there at the same time!!

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build

Late posting this stuff, but I've had one busy day. Today several good friends joined me at West Vue Nursing home to display our cars for the residents. There was a good 70 residents that took a look at the cars during the 2 hours we were there. The staff had Pepsi floats for everyone, it was a great day about 85 degrees. The different stories from the residents made it that much better.
I won't call out the cars in the pics, but there was Ed's 47 Ford, Jims 55 Chevy, my pickup, Carl's 63 Olds, Hazels 71 Cutlass, Dave's 35 Ford, Toms 56 Chevy, Shirleys T-bird, Harvey's 63 Pontiac and Perry's 55 Chevy. Hope you enjoy the pics...Jim
