My '59 Apache

It's nice to have something to report!!!
While our garage was being "upgraded", we stored the truck in a storage along with out jet skiis. It was on a rocky ground and not climate controlled. Finally, after several months, we opened the storage doors, I removed the large truck cover, popped the hood and viewed the engine which was saturated with moisture. The droplets on the aluminum parts were pitted, stained, it was horrible!

We got the truck home and I tried Flitz on the valve covers, but was just too much work; I wanted new valve covers anyway, but still was a lot of work on the other parts to make look nice again.

Other things; I had upgraded my friends brakes on his 82 Trans-am so he gave me a Chevy Moroso water pump and chromed alternator (used), and a new set of front Wilwood brake calipers(not installed yet). The water pump and alternator was off of a chevy engine that he had.

After a little work, the engine in beautiful and exciting, for me

In my opinion, (which is worth about $1.25) I like the new look better. the valve covers give it a slightly more old school look to it.

Nice garage! Wishing i had that much space but then again clutter is my enemy!

I think the engine looks much better with the new valve covers (and alt/WP). It pops a lot more....silver lining in every cloud!

Hi Denee007. Betsy just keeps looking better all the time. I like the under the hood makeover. She looks real happy on the Maxjack but you have to tell her she has to share it. Love the shop area.

Oh one more thing. Its about my Little mule. You asked me about a picture of it in use. Its helping me with the front clip install. Right after I got it the cylinder seal started leaking so I had to improvise. This was a test lift. Its going to work.

Earl, I'm so proud of you! Once you get that little Mule tuned in, it will be your best buddy to help you! I'm really surprised that no one hasn't been able to capitalize on making and selling these things! Thank you so much for sharing the picture! Oh, I just notice your improvision with the floor jack~ smart you are, but then again, Intelligent minds think alike!

Clarance, you got me going again! I just feel that most everyone should have this handy, not expensive "tool" in the shop!

My first Little Mule is a manual model. what I like about it is the manual part/screw mechanism is relatively heavy and leans back offering a counter balance. I made the boom and it is retractable, and of course common sense tells me what is too much.
THis Impala seat was really heavy and requires 2 people struggling, but the mule works best with one person and effortlessly I can remove the seat one handed


THe second one, My Little Mule II is a hydraulic model. I really need to put some weights on the back wheels, but I eventually removed the "boom" portion.


With the boom off and using it the way it was made, it is capable of lifting 400lbs. So imagine lifting a patient weighing 300lbs, the unit is always built to handle much more than specified.


Here putting the large hood back on this mammoth Impala, I always would have to get Gary to help, but works better me alone with my Mule to maneuver and gently put the hood where I wanted it.


There are many models out there, including electric which could be a really nice. I Must say the wheels do tend to wear out, but are readily available on the internet.

I was able to reach Denee. Her home was flooded about as bad as it can get. She's staying with relatives at this point and has workers lined up to start cleanup when the water recedes - they still have a few feet in the house. Her '59 was in storage and stayed dry. She sent these pictures that she said were ok for me to post.

OH MAN!

I feel SO bad for Denee and her family. As long as they're safe then all can be foixed or replaced but, man! Glad her truck is high and dry and looks like her TR6 will be ok, but whatever the orange car is, it's toast. Is it an early Mopar? UGH. Looks like a riding mower is ruined too. Please pass along all our best wishes.

Those picture just broke my Heart! Such a Nice Lady and she has a wonderful Family that supports her hobbies. The loss of personal items is huge but the Loss of life pales it, I'm glad they are safe.

The Orange car is her '67-8 Mustang that she built before the truck and the TR she did after the truck. Both can be rebuilt it just takes time and money.

But first they will have to rebuild their home and lives.
