The best thing I've had happen was one day when I was trying to merge onto a busy road. Two guys in a car were coming in my direction. The driver saw my truck, slammed on his brakes, stopping all the traffic behind him, and screamed "The road is yours!" while hanging out of the window. That put a smile on my face for the rest of the day!

I live near Gatlinburg, TN. My dad refers to tourists as being "zombified" when they're here on vacation. It's fun to go up and cruise through a few times to see how many of them actually just stop in their tracks or run to the street to say someting to me. I had a guy one time trying to talk to me about my truck and his wife was trying to drag him up the sidewalk away from me. My wife and I were horse laughing at them. I also like to gun it through the tunnel and hear the pipes roar. Deb gets mad every time. People tend to stop honking after they hear me go through.

I try not to stop at gas stations if I'm in a hurry cause I'll never get to leave on time. I love it when I drive on the interstate in the right lane and somebody slams the brakes at 80 or so to slow down and look and gives a thumbs up.

I could go on with stories like these for hours but I'll shutup now.

yey at the goodguys here in columbus when they cheered me on to do a 30 yard burn out !pulled up to thru the service road and i hear this roar from the crowd -stopped on the wet spot, roasted the tires right off the bat and went thru all three gears pretty quick-smoke everywhere -had to get out of it,rear tires picked up everything that was in the the road after that, pulled over and parked in the hotel lot and this barell shaped guy looked at me like i was an iddiot and said you know you dont have any tailights ,by this time the adrenelen was flowing and i looked at him like so what (didnt say anything)went back to the truck and replaced afuse later.thought i was in city league championship football game again.

Mine only turns head when the motors running

I can't go to Home Depot or Lowes or the feed mill without someone drooling over the sound of that old big block doing what it does best (running strong that is).

Well I will have to say it is as soon as I get it on the road. Torch Red and 3" Super 40 flowmaster exhaust should turn some heads.

Well, my 68 looked pretty good from a distance, before we redone everything, and I got a lot of comments, but now and we're not even finished yet, just sitting in the driveway, it is a real blast to watch people as they drive by, seems some are going to break their necks looking, might cause and accident in the street LOL !!! Can't wait until we get all side chome, wheels centers, rear bumper etc, so it can drive it more and watch people stare, and I just love those thumbs up and comments from people !!!

I drive a slammed 68 shortwide box thats painted 99 viper red, Running a cammed up 496 bbc, torque thrust II's, 3" exhaust. one piece side glass.cowl induction hood.

The attention the truck garners is unbelievable!! The best happened about a yr ago. Me and my wife were coming back from a run and were travling thru a major city. I was stopped at a light when a chry minivan pulled up beside me. I could here the rug rats screaming from inside my truck!!! I looked over and here was the dad hollering at them. He stops... looks at my truck.... looks back at his screaming pack... turns to me and gives me 2 thumbs up and a look that he wishes he was me!!!!!!

It couldn't get any better than that!!!

This is the kinda thread that makes me just love this site ! About four years ago I bought a C-3500 with a 454 blowing through flowmasters and 2 1/2" pipes that dumped right in front of the rear wheels. So all the sound echoed through the bed. I had so much fun driving through the parking lots and setting off all the car-alarms. Besides the fact that the huge tires and three inch body lift make it look a little bigger than life; people just stop dead in their tracks to get a good look !!! And my girlfriend drives it every chance she gets because she gets so many compliments, (blue-eyed blonde) in a HOT ROD TRUCK !!!

Welll I got mine on the road yesterday. I still need to bolt some of the stainless strips in.

The looks >>> Wen I took it to GM for the front end alignment everyone stoped work and came out to have a look. Kids all thru every town were giving me thumbs UP. I love this.

The best comment I got was from a 35 or so year old mom. " Nice Ride Buddie ! " My girlfriend got kinda jelous. It sure was funny.

I get a lot of glares and nasty comments like "how could you drive such and awful thing?" or "you should be ashamed of yourself!"

I was driving down the road one day just cruising along in my slammed '71 long bed Cheyenne looking straight ahead thinking in my own little world when a got that feeling that someone was staring at me. When I looked beside me there was this Beautiful 50's model Bently riding beside me. I went to give the driver my thumbs-up approval and he beat me to it. I thought that was so cool coming from someone with such a High Class Machine. Everybody loves these trucks.
P.S. Bravedave,
What the hey is wrong with those people ?

Couple weeks ago while gassing the truck headed out to a local car/truck show guy came over and checked out why I was pumping the gas into the bed of the truck!! Told him I had to as that was where the fuel filler was. Don't drive it a lot at 11 mpg but it does turn a few heads when I get it out.
