Re: Gauges.... Who, What, Where?

Did a bit more searching;

they include new sending units for everything and have an available pulse generator for the speedo.

They have a couple fully mechanical gauge sets as well.

Yeah it is. These gauges are going to act completely independent of the original system. The same is true of Autometer and others.

so if the wires coing from the PCM wont work and i have to run my own wires to the trans why do they bother supplying the wires (harness builders)to hook up the tacho and speedo ???

Because a replacment harness is configured for a stock aplication unless otherwise requested.

You're right lolife! I saw Swervin's post and was surprised. THEN I checked the date.

Still good info. You can bet I'm flipping this one into a PDF.

Re: Gauges.... Who, What, Where?

tv blazer got anymore pics of your set up? what size guages are those? 3 3/8" speedo and tach and that 2 1/16" smaller ones?

I have some autometer ultra lites i was planning on installing on my truck once i get it back and i like the look of smaller guages and your set up hits the spot. Please post more pictures if you have them. Thanks.

That changes things...

In any case, I'm thinking seriously about picking up a set f these gauges and wiring them in. Hell, If I could do that I might be able to do away with that dam ECU.

Right now I'm working on reconfiguring the emissions system and seeing if I can get it to work without the ECU.

PS; I hate the C.A.R.B.

Good Eye. Sunpro also makes a 5" tach, but we will have to see what will work. Haven't found a speedo yet so I am thinking of using a white face overlay.

covans makes a bezel for the square bodies. IMO i think using the factory bezel looks the best.

Re: Gauges.... Who, What, Where?

dang putfile site took a poo and a lot of my photos are gone... good news is Im looking at the unfinished cluster right now... its a dodge/chevy hybrid... funny b/c Im putting dodge brakes on my truck... anyway I'll take a good picture tomarrow. If you can imagine how the new new trucks are how the light shines through the dial and looks normal.. well I'm putting those in the factory cluster.. its got a 120mph speedo which is handy, a 1-6k tach... both fit perfectly in the large holes, and then fuel, volts and so on for the small holes... perfect. only problem is its been 1.5 years and I still havent finished... someday... I've got all the autocad layout for the placement just dont have a lot of time.

Re: Gauges.... Who, What, Where?

gauges are from a 96 dodge ram 1500. Im trying to find someone who does cnc work real cheap because sending the cad file to a prototyper and have SLS performed is like 80 bucks for one piece, and there are a total of 3. taking a chunck of nylon or other plastic and having a cnc router or something cut it should be too much. I just need to find the right person to do it after hours kinda deal. Anyone know anyone that has a cnc machine and has plastic stock??

Re: Gauges.... Who, What, Where?

Dodge gauges? Good idea! Makes perfect sense to me as I have been staring at the white gauges in my Dodge Ram on the way to work lately and thinking they too should/could/might fit in the Chevy cluster!

Admitting I plan on not taking the dash apart again anytime soon (if I don't have to). Everything is working!

Those gauges do look nice!
