Re: Who drives there truck every day?

I'd love to be able to drive my truck everyday, all year around. I do drive it daily from mid April till Sept/Oct depending on the year. I'd kill to be able to live in the Southern USA so I wouldn't have to put up with our Winters anymore and the bonus would be I could drive my truck everyday. The attached winter pics are my front and back yards this morning and the snow has already been here for 3 weeks and the truck pic is from last May. The winters are harsh here but the spring ,summer and fall months are superb. One last thing ,our trucks must be real tough cause I see lots of them
(although most are beaters) being used daily here all year around.

I would alternate days with my 67 and 68, but now my 67 is my all the time driver. Back and forth to work and the gym and carry the family around too.

Re: Who drives there truck every day?

For me it's the bike or the truck. And I have to admit, the bike is first choice... but when it's too cold, or the weather will be too bad it's truck day. I get more compliments on the truck than the bike...

side note - it's easier to carry bike parts in the truck, than truck parts on the bike. It's a great reason for preventative maintenance... (ask me how I know - LOL)

I used to drive it every day when I was 12 miles from the office. I haven't driven it in nearly 3 months, but hope to drive it again soon.

Re: Who drives there truck every day?

I drive mine everyday, rain or shine. For me it is about 20 miles/day round trip, and every other weekend I go to Tulsa, about 140 miles round trip. Since the rebuild, she has been very reliable, and continues to be more so--I rebuilt the front brakes & fitted new shoes a few weeks ago, and today I ordered a new pair of springs for the rear (driver's side has been sittin' a little lower for a while now). Just need to fix the dents & rust and put some "real" paint on.

Re: Who drives there truck every day?

I have driven either my 69 3/4 ton or my 71 Blazer daily since I bought the truck in '92 and the Blazer in '94. I got married 2 years ago and I bought my wife a 72 3/4 ton 4x4 Suburban shortly after. The Suburban was her daily driver until last July when it was stripped to the frame for restoration. When finished it will once again be her daily driver(just fired the motor last night, should be completed in another month). I used to have to beg to borrow her Suburban...I now will probably no hope of ever driving the Suburban again(I'm sure it will need extensive test driving before she gets it back.....could take months,right?..gotta get ALL the bug out!!!!!) LOL

Iv'e had my 72 super cheyenne for 13yrs. and put over 80,000 miles on it. I'm now doing alot of body work&paint to it. Like other guys have said, why would'nt you drive it every day. Iv'e turned down alot of money to sell this truck, its that special to me. They don't mahem this way any more. Keep on truckin.

Re: Who drives there truck every day?

I drive my 72 cheyenne Super most every day, only 5.7 miles one way. I work in an office and often wear a suit and tie. People don't understand why I drive it because I own other vehicles I could drive. Like most people on this board I don't particularly want to blend in with the masses. With cheap financing anyone can own the latest FXXX, Sliverado, Hemi, etc.

Re: Who drives there truck every day?

Right now I drive my 85 every day, and I'm getting the 72 painted and rebuilt to be a real sweet ride, once it's done I'll be driving it every day, I'll drive it in the morning and the 85 in the afternoon to get my kid from school, or vice versa, or maybe alternate days. Hell I dunno but it'll be driven regularly! Gas mileage be damned, if you get more than 10 mpg you're just being uppity!

Re: Who drives there truck every day?

Unfortunately, I don't live in a climate that I can drive my 'burb everyday; right now it would just be a snowplow...but I'd probably do a better job of cleaning the residential streets than the city does

I drive my '91 Jimmy(also lowered, but nowhere close to how low the 'burb is); I consider the Jimmy more disposable and much easier to replace...this is a necessity with how most people drive in the winter around here.

Re: Who drives there truck every day?

I have a few a cars so I put it in the rotation. Every day that I have off my daughter who's 3 won't drive anywhere with me unles it's the truck. It takes a lot of convincing for her ride in the 2006 Camry. The truck has been used by my family and friends for hauling ther stuff than my own. However because of the interesting things ive been hauling (harley, gxr, bigscreen, quads) my wife is open to the idea of getting them now. Thats worth gold in itself not having to convince your wife that you need that custom bike or 80 inch big screen. Today I worked on the wipers to make sure that they work, I haven't driven her in the rain since she's still drums all the way around but I'm going to get the christmas tree for the house. I don't work very far from home, so it takes longer to warm the truck than get there so on those days I take the scenic route to work....The stepside is growing on me more and more since it's easy for me and the kids to hop on the back. Yesterday we took her to our christmas parade parked her in reverse in a lot that the parade passed in front of. Great to build memories with my family so she'll be on the road as much as she can. Cross your fingers driving now in the rain with the drums.....ooooooo
