Thank you for your comments. It would be impossible for us to comment intelligently about your situation without being about to see the parts. The two issues you did mention (both N&S assemblies, and gaskets) were items that are purchased from outside vendors. We have switched to different suppliers of these components since the late 90’s. We currently monitor a few hundred different boards to get feedback (again both good, and bad) to see where we can improve what we do. Technical support as job SUCKS… but we’re working tirelessly with our guys to improve the consistency of what they do, and how they handle customers. |

As I stated before I think it is a very good Idea to moniter these types of sites IMO this is where you livelyhood lies in the customers. It will take some positive feed back but also like I stated I am more likely to try your product again when I am see there is at least some measures being taken to solve the problems I have seen and heard of. Give me a break, do you think your talking to novice computer users here? I've been in IT for over ten years, I send hundreds of e-mails a week, it's funny everyone else receives my e-mails, even other carb Manufactures. If you really want to try & convince us this late in the game that BG is all about quality & customer service, you got your work cut out for you, oh, & please come up with better excuses for "Your" tech support dept. not returning e-mails. |

Not trying to "Convince" you of anything. We generally deal with a few hundred emails per day. And periodically emails are bounced back to us from firewall, or do to error on our behalf. People can fat finger a return address, and mistakes happen. If you never have any issues with your email system please let us know what network you're using, and we'll gladly look into upgrading. We are honestly trying to help. We are sorry for the issues you had, and are happy that you've got something (even if it is a competitors part) that you're happy with. |

Now I'm not familier with the Speed demon series but I do have experiance with the old school BG carbs and have seen first hand 2 1150's take 4/10ths off a 3k lb 2k horspower (with spray) mustang. over the Regular Holley 1150's. 72step: I hope you get the bugs worked out. 71chevylowrider: I hate E-mailing for tech support but calling can be just as frustrating when you know its out of country. Tech @ BG: I know you can't make it all better but its nice to know your company is listening. and Welcome to the boards.

Re: BG Demon Carbs are WORTHLESS!!!
Whatever happened to the day's when you ran a Holley Square Bore or a Quadrapuke? Both were solid carbs for a very very long time. I know that Eldebrock makes the Q-jet now, but isn't it the same carb as it was while being manufactured by (Carter?)?

Re: BG Demon Carbs are WORTHLESS!!!
I run the Carters on two of my vehicles, "Edelbrock" stickers and all..LOL..I have ran Holley's in the past and had issues with tuning every time the weather changed, floats sticking. Performance..? The Holley 650DP could not be beat as far as throttle response, it was like the new EFI trucks, no hesitation! Your main concern needs to be the right carb for your application. I run a Edelbrock 600cfm on a mild cam fairly stock 350 that needs a rebuild and it was night and day compared to the Holley 600 cfm it had on it. My .02
**The new edelbrock (carter) is a different style and a 2yr old can tune it.

Re: BG Demon Carbs are WORTHLESS!!!
What timing for this post! I am having issues with my BG Speed Demon. I emailed and left a couple messages on thier voice mail system with no response for over a week - finally went through the sales line and asked a salesman to connect me with the tech dept. I have been issued a RGA #, to return the carb (was not offered a call tag but no big deal) but do hope to have my issues resolved in a timly manner as it has been a 7 year project and it's finally on the road so I want to DRIVE it, not wait for parts. Guess I will wait and see what happens and hope for the best.......

Re: BG Demon Carbs are WORTHLESS!!!
i bought a BG 750 with the mechanical secondaries for my big block and we had nothing but trouble. the gasket that was sent with the carb was junk and there were so many burrs on the bottom of the main body that it wouldnt sit flush even with the right gaskets set in. however, i put on the same exact carb only it was an 850 and its worked flawlessly. i guess thats what you run into with mass production... you either strike out or hit a home run.

tavenner13,
Sorry about the issues. The goal is not to have any troubles regardless of how many are manufactured. What was the problem with gasket? |

Re: BG Demon Carbs are WORTHLESS!!!
I agree always good to see someone or company try to make things right. I know some of you are pissed and rightfully so, but what if your wife never gave you the chance to make things right for all you have done wrong. Think about it. It's NEVER too late to say you are sorry. I need to take my own advice and shut up. Later.

Re: BG Demon Carbs are WORTHLESS!!!
Ive never owned a BG. Tons of holleys & the other brands & I can honestly say Edelbrock is NOT a performance carburator. Ive pulled my 3310 holley & bolted it on where an Edelbrock was just to prove to a few they WILL notice a performance gain or they can have my carb. 2 of the 3 sold their carb & bought holleys. The third said he would keep his carb because he just bought it. Carter is good & is NOT an edelbrock carb. Dont get me wrong, I am a huge edelbrock fan but not the carbs. Good street carb? sure I guess... Send me a BG, Ill try one. I only know of one from around here with a Demon carb & he's thrilled with it...

ill have to ask my buddy that helped me install it as i dont recall the exact issue with it (the gasket). im very impressed with the customer responses and that youre directly dealing with us here on the site. in no way am i trying to bash your company in this thread... im simply stating an issue that i had with my first carb. im including a picture of the main body of the problem carb. there were burrs in a few places and also you can see two threads showing through in the top corners. |

Re: BG Demon Carbs are WORTHLESS!!!
Tech@BG,
Thanks for coming on this site and trying to help. I know your job is not easy. I am a member of other boards where they don't treat you very nice at all. One thing I would find more helpful, how about a first name and maybe a last intial? I bought a used dominator...it's a BG prepped Holley. How do I find out if it's a 1050,1150 or 1250? The stock Holley numbers are gone. I've Emailed BG many many times. It is going on a 900HP 540 BBC.

Re: BG Demon Carbs are WORTHLESS!!!
Bigjim,
Check you PM The older modified Holley carburetors we did would have a part number, and serial number etched into the side of the main body with an ethcing pen. If you can get us this number we can tell you what you have. |

Re: BG Demon Carbs are WORTHLESS!!!
I have heard tons of horror stories about after market carbs. Pull it off and send it back for a refund.
Take the money and buy yourself a late model Q jet. These carbs have more thought put into them than one might realize. These carbs can out perform any of the above when set up right and there is tons of literature on how to set them up. They are quite frankly "the best". Thats why GM used them on all there vehicles for all those years.

This is what makes our hobby great; there is more than one way to skin a cat. Otherwise we’d all be driving Black Model T’s… With all of the crate engine builders that offer complete engines today I’m not aware of many if any that offer them with a Q-jet (which is an excellent carburetor by the way). Even the GMPP crate engines are offered with Holley® or Demon® carburetors depending on the model. |
