Re: Finally Posting some Pic's
i really love the way your grille looks right now as is. i know alot of guys think they have to change up the '69 grille to make it look better but your truck already looks rediculously cool. like stupid-cool... the kinda cool that normal guys like me can only dream about i think your truck has a perfect mix of factory looks and custom badassness (??). its your ride, tho... do as you please!

Re: Finally Posting some Pic's
Fatboys69...
What backspacing is on your 15 x 8 TT2's? I'm thinking of running the same tire sizes you are running (255/70's & 285/70's)... I've got 15 x 8's (halibrand style gassers) with just abit less than 4" bs... I'm hoping my set up looks as good as your does...

Re: Finally Posting some Pic's
They are 3-3/4 " Backspace, sounds like yours have the same B/S as mine do.
Do you already have your 285's ? Reason I ask from all that I can find out BF Goodrich has discontiued that size. I have searched several tire web sites ( and my brother-in law even runs a tire and wheel store ) and we haven't been able to find any yet. Hopefully you already have them, if not good luck. If I can locate some I will post the info on the board so people can get them. |

Re: Finally Posting some Pic's
Yeah, I couldn't find BFG's anywhere either... I did find 285/70-15 in Yokohama Geolanders and Bridgestone Avids... now I just need to see the tread patterns in person...
The rim's I got are way cool.... here's a link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/15X4-...QQcmdZViewItem

Re: Finally Posting some Pic's
thinking of making a racey looking aluminum back plate... so you see the hole in middle of rim... then instead of end of axle or dust cap... you see a raw aluminum, slightly rounded piece behind there.... but, not sure... probably run the caps it came with at first.

Re: Finally Posting some Pic's
American Racing offers a "short" factory cap for the TT2's. I have seen them on the Newstalia Wheel website for $100.00 for a set. Been thinking about changing to them.

Re: Finally Posting some Pic's
Very nice truck! Personaly I would leave the front end just as it is. The 67-68 swap is getting to be everywere and the 71072 is very common as well. Your 69-70 has just the right look, clean, classy and not on every street corner I have a 68,70,and 71 and parts to make them all 67-68 or 71-72's but my 70 has the best look of all in my opinion. You just do not see a truck as clean as yours were everything looks just right. Spot paint the fire wall and call it good!

Re: Finally Posting some Pic's
May do that, had a spot of rust come up in the pass door so I went ahead and bought a new door and all internals and channel fuzzies for each side. ( I always say, if your gonna do it, do it right ).Thought I would blow it apart, hang the new doors and repaint. Got sme new POL motor mounts, and some other new stuff for it. Really contemplating putting in a Big Block ( just for looks, nothing radical ). Just want it to look SMOOTH !!

Re: Finally Posting some Pic's
I'm a huge 67-68 front end fan, BUT, I vote leave that front end on it... not only is that the best looking 69-70 truck I've ever seen,... I would safely say that your truck is one of the top 5 trucks (any year 67-72) that I've ever seen...
But, It really is about that YOU would like to see when you look in your garage,... So, that's only my little vote... Very nice... I love your truck, stance, color, cleanliness.... perfect as is...

Re: Finally Posting some Pic's
I would leave it along. To nice of truck to swap out front clip. I would put a GM grille (if it needs one) and the inserts you are talking about. I just went through this same problem a while back. I just built a 69 and started on a 70. I might put a 71-72 grille on 70 with billet insert????. NICE TRUCK. DRIVE IT....

Re: Finally Posting some Pic's
The outer sheel is about 3 years old and I got it from LMC ( I like it because it has no markings in the center bar ) kinda cleans it up a bit in my opinion.
But I like it without any emblems ( just my preference, they look really good all decked out with trim also !! ) |

Re: Finally Posting some Pic's
I agree with most of the other guys on here. I have a 69 as well and I wish mine looked half as good as yours. The 67-68 front clip is going to be way overdone (not that they don't look bad-ass), and in a few years our kick ass grills will be a rarety!! 5-10 years from now, everybody will be wanting a front clip like ours!! So, IMHO, keep it as is. You should be thoroughly pleased with such a beautiful truck.

Re: Finally Posting some Pic's
Took Rokcrln's advice and painted the firewall, gonna call it done ( for now anyways !!) Gonna stay with the 69 front clip, I'll repaint the truck at a later date. Still gonna get the 18 & 20 Coy's ( Before summer is over !! ). Let me know what you think, go easy as I don't have much experience in paint & bodywork and this was done in my shed/carport that I am currently turning into my garage ( block walls, gravel floor and block walls, oh yeah a rotten and falling roof !).

Looks great Fatboys69!
What steps did you follow to accomplish this? I'd like to do the same "clean-up job" to my C-10. Pete |

Re: Finally Posting some Pic's
removed the factory A/C setup and replaced it a "Street Rod" (small interior unit). It opened it up ALOT, inside the cab as well as under the hood. I now have a shallow glove box ( but they are useless anyway LOL ! ). Just routed the hose in between the outer and inner fender. I'll take some more detailed pic's if you want to see. Just let me know.

The firewall looks excellent. I envy you.
I can't wait until I can afford (the time and money) to pull my stuff of, fill up the holes and get mine cleaned up. Great job man. DLB |

Re: Finally Posting some Pic's
Texas1971
those are 255/70/15's up front and 285/70/15's out back. From all I can find out BFG doesn't offer the 285 anymore. |
