Re: California registration SUCKS!!
I went to the DMV website. Falvarez, you are getting a killer deal, likely b/c a previous owner fudged and somehow got the truck listed in an incorrect weight class. And Geno, you should do as previously advised -- strip your truck and have it re-weighed to get below 5K#. Here's a partial list of weight fees:
0 - 1999# $8 2000 - 2999# $8 3000 - 4000# $24 4001 - 5000# $80 5001 - 6000# $154 6001 - 7000# $204 7001 - 8000# $257 note: these are unladen weights for 2-axle trucks, including pickups.

Re: California registration SUCKS!!
When I first registered mine here in Calif I did so with an old camper on back and I got regular non-commercial plates. My reg.fees are something like $41 and I've been using it exclusively for commercial purposes for the last ten years.

well, mine's listed as 4133 lbs, and my WF = $80.00. Maybe I should try to dump 150 lbs off it. =)

Re: California registration SUCKS!!
as far as I know all trucks unless they have a camper on them are commercial vehicles which have a weight fee. I have had several trucks and they where all commercial.

Re: California registration SUCKS!!
I pay a weight fee on my 56 Chevy truck that I know will never carry a load of anything besides me and I also have a weight fee on my 2003 Avalanche because they call it a truck.

Re: California registration SUCKS!!
i could write a manifesto about how greedy our state has become, we are all taxed and fined and worked over nonstop. i might be crazy but i think george orwell's only error was in his title "1984" he was off by about 20 years. i hope the rest of the country can keep kalifornia contained, otherwise i wouldnt be surprised to see fidel castro university right in the middle of texas in the next century.
13lazer i think i can speak freely, all the castro supporters are on other message boards.:bansex:

Re: California registration SUCKS!!
I bought a Dually a little over a year ago from a guy that had moved to Texas from California. All I can say is that 99% of the people that I dealt with at the CA Dmv while trying to get the title transferred in my name were a total pain in the rear. The lady that was assigned to my transfer could barely speak English. And all of the fees that you guys have to pay is rediculious. Paperless Title???? I thought I'd heard it all.. Us Texans like to hold the real title in our own hands. NO offense to you Californians, just your politicians. $50.00 for 5 years is what I pay. I'll take the little Gray headed ladies in the East Texas tax offices anyday.

Re: California registration SUCKS!!
ChevyDude is so right, great state... but we are leaving as soon as we can sell. We were both born and raised here. Its a shame, the state is beutiful but the politicians are not. (time for another revolution soon)

WTF??????Am i the only one that noticed the op let his registration expire, was driving with out insurance or current registration, got busted, still didn't register the truck, never made arrangements to pay the fine, ignored the warning letter, then blames his mess up on the state?

I do love Oklahoma. No inspections and cheap tags. I think it is $20 a year.

Dear Mr. "W.t.f ?" aka magsnubby,
Yes I did note that and thank you for noticing. And that still doesn't explain the outrageous weight fees we are discussing, thank you. |

Re: California registration SUCKS!!
Sure the weight fees are ridiculous. But so is driving a non-registered non-insured vehicle.
