more progress! i pulled the frame out from under the truck for an intense restoration! man it was rusty!!! and i grinded off the rest of the 4wd components in the rear (leaf spring hangars and parking brake brackets). The trailing arm crossmember is already drilled out too! found my trailing arm rear end. hardest thing to do now is fabricate a shock crossmember? pictures are always greatly appretiated! does anyone know if E.C.E. sells the conversion coil spring brackets instead of airbag brackets?

When I first did mine, I moved the crossmember from the front leaf hangers back to where the shock crossmember would be on a coil truck. For spring brackets, you will do the same as you would for bags, just use the stock coil spring retainers...

i got to making some upper spring/airbag mount brackets.

GRINGOLOCO.. im having second thoughts on moving the body mount crossmember further back because the frame tapers in smaller here, not allowing these bottom brackets to fit=lose quite a bit of strength without em?? lemme know..

just to give a glimpse of the quality work in my fam, my pops built this shortbed

.....originally a gmc stepside ..after it sold it came out in classic trucks all little! ..haha!

The trailing arm and panhard crossmembers add some rigidity that you didn't have before. If you're gonna be very low that body mount crossmember will cause driveshaft interference issues. You can build new supports for it to use it as the shock crossmember or section the existing supports. Maybe try a truck shock crossmember- it might work. You definitely want to tie the frame together at the spring perches and have those supports in place to keep the frame from flexing in that area.

just about got the heavily coated rust off of my frame,there was a @#%*load of RUST. its coming out really nice! i had to purchase a special rust scrubbing wheel for the grinder tool. a little bit of sand blasting in the harder to get spots will clean the frame perfectly

I just acquired my first 70 Blazer, and will be converting it to 2wd with trailing arms and air bags very shortly. I will keep an eye on your progress as it is good inspiration to help me tackle mine.

I would not flip my tub on the side to lay it down, mattress or not. especially without welding some braces in there to keep it straight. What are you trying to do? If you are just worried about moving it back on to the body. you should just buy some beer and invite a few guys over.

I wouldn't. Too much of a chance for damage. Take a look at the last few posts in my thread. The engine crane picks it up just fine and you can go pretty high to get under if thats what your wanting to do.
