Re: '62 2.5? ton
I asked my grandpa about the hearse and he said he sold it a couple of weeks ago.
Now I'm thinking 12V Cummins with all the "free" mods done. keep the current trans and add a the ranger OD unit I posted above. Or a TH400 and an OD unit. Another cool idea I had, I mentioned using it at the FFA's goat farm we have and I got to thinking, the roof is a little low and I think the bed would hit when you raise it up so to solve that problem, do a simple 4 link and some HD bags to lower it when backing into the barn.

Re: '62 2.5? ton
The Cummins would most likely be way better than the other engine choices. Give that rig the torque it deserves!

Re: '62 2.5? ton
IMO a 4-53 may run forever but would be way under powered in something this big. It may have been a bad ass back in the day but by todays standards and mine, I think the 12v is a better choice.

Re: '62 2.5? ton
Well, if you go with the Cummins, you can always paint it Detroit Diesel green!

Re: '62 2.5? ton
I was thinking more along the lines of Cummins beige.
