Build the garage or fence AFTER he starts his garden in the spring this way it will all be for nothing. Also when runnin g cars in your garage, plan to vent your exhaust out his side of the garage...saftey first.

Tell the city your not a cat so your not going to cover up your s**t. If your neighbor doesn't like seeing it, he needs to looks somewhere else.

Re: I hate living in the "city"... also known as "Sweet Revenge"
you may only be able to build 10 feet on either side of the property line but they never said driving on that 10 feet. Mabee you should point your doors toward the property line and run the gravel to it

Re: I hate living in the "city"... also known as "Sweet Revenge"
It would be to hard to pull into the garage with only 10' but you could put a 3' entarance door and a big window on that side so he can see over the fence and see your project sitting in there in pieces. In my opinion (just because I'm spiteful) I would do everything I could think of to do to get under his skin as long as it follows proper building codes for your area.

Re: I hate living in the "city"... also known as "Sweet Revenge"
I live about half an hour east of Knoxville.
As for the open headers trick, I know that one quite well. whenI lived in Georgia, I was putting a new motor into a camaro project car. they didn't have the run and drive rules there at the time, and after teh motor was in, I ran it open headers to check my timing. a cop came by on a call and tod me that I couldn't drive the car without headers. after I explained to him that it wasn't driving ( no driveshaft) he just kept on with the "I better not see this on my streets with those wheels ( 15X10 slicks) and no exhaust. I asked him if he was going to arrest me, and he said "No, but I oughtta" I politely told him to get the **** off of my proprerty and as he pulled out, I opened her up open headers to about 7,000 RPM, and continued to do so every 15-20 minutes until 9PM which is when the noise ordinance laws went into effect there. at 7AM teh next day, I woke up my neighborhood teh same way in order to thank whoever it had been that had called in on me...

Re: I hate living in the "city"... also known as "Sweet Revenge"
You could start getting some instant revenge now for a few bucks. Since he cuts into your yard with his lawn tractor, you could put a couple of NO TRESPASSING signs on you property line facing his house. Every time he cuts into your yard with his tractor, call the police and charge him with trespassing.
I guess I'm fortunate to have great neighbors. Two of them have loud Harley's, another has a '67 Camero with Flowmasters that he lays down a line in front of his house with. So, me firing up my Blazer with the big block and Flow's is nothing to them at all. Our tried to do the junk car deal here too. The car guys got together and got some of it stopped, but still some of the new poeple who moved in from out of state got part of their way.

Re: I hate living in the "city"... also known as "Sweet Revenge"
I helped a buddy build a shop (block structure).....2 neighbors called to complain......one continued. Every time she called.....the county would come out...make sure we were following the plans...said they had a complaint and they would just laugh and move on. After the second time we fought back.
His house is three stories tall so according to code we could build the shop no higher than 30ft (3 stories). The original plans called for 10' high block walls and then trusses. After call #2........every time she called and the code man showed up.....we re-drew up the plans, had them approved and added 2' of block. Now his buildingis done and its 16' of block. She finally walked over and asked why it was so much taller than the original plans and he told her......."Everytime you called the city we added 2 feet" They no longer speek!!!!

I thought that you were going to say West Knoxville or West Maryville.

I was thinking the exact same thing, but I understand if you want it to match your house, so just paint the side that faces the neighbors some ridiculous color, and the rest that you can see, paint the same as your house! You could also have a water ballon fight in your backyard and if one just happened to be filled with roundup and it accidentally went over the fence and busted in his garden....oops! lol |

I believe that Once I get my garage built, I will buy enough red white and blue paint to do an enormous confederate flag painting along teh wall that faces his property.

So he is a gardener and his garden is near the line? Roundup and granular herbicide works great.

Re: I hate living in the "city"... also known as "Sweet Revenge"
I had an old lady that lived across the street from me a few years ago. She'd lived there since the '50s, so She thought she was the most important person in the neighborhood.
She would call the building and safety codes office and complain that I was running a business from my garage, and painting cars and there were toxic chemicals, mounds of old tires and junk cars all over my yard. The inspectors came over a few times, coincedentaly while I was working in my garage and had my air compressor going. Im sure it looked like I was actully running a shop. The first time he played stupid and tried to get me to fix his car, and asking "is this a repair shop?" as soon as I told him no and went back to what I was doing he introduced himself as an inspector. He really hassled me If all the cars around were my own and I ended up getting pissed and offering to go get all my titles from inside the house. He backed off after that point but I still see him drive down my alley once in a while and look around. Sooo, to retaliate (strong word but I felt strongly about this b$%^&H calling me in) I went ahead and parked ALL of my old cars in front of her house, moving them every day. I did that for about a week. There was 2 trucks, 2 novas and my daily driver there. Man, that got her going. I even called the building and safety department becase her retaining wall was to close to the center of the alley, which is one of the things she complained about. My truck was parked next to my garage to close to the alley. Anyway, she ended up in a retirement home a couple years ago. I thought I was home free. Now, I have a crazy guy living next to my garage (around the corner from my house) who flips out and threatens me when i make to much noise in the garage. I hate living in town. |
