Re: 67 SWB 4x4
I am installing a Vintage Air AC.
They were unaware of the differences between a C10 and K10 in the engine compartment. So all the hoses had to be shortened, the water valve cable shortened, etc. Very simple installation really. I wanted the vents to be as unobtrusive as possible, to keep the dash clean. I made some aluminum brakets and installed the vents behind the dash, so they will be almost invisible when seated in the cab, but still able to blow air in your face. These show some of the mods.

Re: 67 SWB 4x4
Finally got all the sheetmetal on it.
I have decided to install the one-piece windows to match the other truck. They do make some road noise, so I would suggest to anyone doing that mod to caulk the aluminum triangle from the inside of the door to keep the wind from whistling.

Re: 67 SWB 4x4
Awesome progress!
Wish I would have seen your Vintage Air post before I finished mine....I kept wondering why the top compressor hose was so long....I couldn't get it to sit correctly like yours....so I tucked it underneath....I would have shortened it....just gonna live with it I guess! Keep up the good work! RM

Re: 67 SWB 4x4
I had to shorten everything.
The hoses, the valve cable, all of it. It took a day just to get that part correct. I did not put the manual valve in, I hope it will not be needed, and I did not like the way it would have looked.

Re: 67 SWB 4x4
Finally got the chromed grill and headlight bezels in.
The truck was a custom, so it had aluminum grill hoops andheadlight trim. Needless to say, aluminum does not chrome real well, so I have been scrounging for clean metal ones for sometime. Door gaskets are in, handles are on, doors are shimed. Waiting to install the front windshield and may go back with rebuilt vent wings versus one piece glass. Not sold on the one piece glass thing. May light it before New Year. Merry Christmas all!

Re: 67 SWB 4x4
Nope, your's are in the spare parts bin.
I need to find a 4x4 dip stick and tube, or suggestions on how to make one long enough to reach easy. As it is, I have to almost climb the tire to reach the dip stick location. So I am thinking there has got to be a way to braze another tube to the old one and extend it out to the master cylinder somewhere and terminate it. Does anyone know of a flex dipstick & tube? Also my painter is running out of work from the economy, so we are starting the 70 SWB 4x4 a little early to help him out. I will set up the Project site soon. Anyone looking for a good painter please give this guy a shot. Just check out my truck or shoot me a message for some pictures. He has done about 5 of these trucks now, and knows what to repair and how to do it.

Re: 67 SWB 4x4
4" not sure on the tire size, but I think that is right.
I got buckets all around the thing. 2 in front, one on each side. It is getting to be a pain.

Re: 67 SWB 4x4
From what I've been told, blocks with the dip stick on the driver side came in a car and blocks with them on the passenger side came in a truck. I don't know how true this is but I know hard it is to get to with the dip stick coming out right by the master cylinder. I have a 350 block with a little plate screwed to the side of it down by the oil pan that allows it to have the dip stick on the passenger side, something like that might make it easier to get to.

Re: 67 SWB 4x4
Well, about now I have alienated my family and friends, no one wants to see the little progress I am making.
So I post it to the forum. I am expecting to start the truck within two weeks and have the interior in and to be 98% finished. I bent all the new brake lines this weekend, mounted the bumper, and hidden hitch license plate fold down bracket. It helps to have a friend with a mill. In Texas you can run vintage plates and then are not required to have any auto inspection. Door bumoers keep it quiet. Much cheaper in the long run also.

Re: 67 SWB 4x4
Those plates have a super low number only two digits.
He also cut the center out of the center cap with the mill. I blasted and painted the buddy buckets bought last week from Huskerboy. The may be finished this time next week. I am going to Raptor line the inside of the center box to keep things from rattling and scratching paint. Got the windshield in and also a neat repop 67 Texas Inspection sticker.

Re: 67 SWB 4x4
Last MAJOR issue.
I will post this on the general forum pages also. My pulleys are not lining up. The bottom has the standard cast PS pump grooves and then e two groove pancake pulley for the AC? The water pump pulley has a little wider divider in it and seems to not line up with the crank pulley. The AC needs two belts, but I can not see how to run that at this time. Anyone got any ideas? I have lots of pulleys now and none are working.

Re: 67 SWB 4x4
There are three or four different power steering pump pulley's, all have a different offset. You can also buy aluminum spacers, or have your buddy with the mill make them, for the crank pulley's.
Not sure on the AC.. my 68 had a two groove crank and a three groove water pump to run the smog pump and two groove alt.

We are scattering my 70 today.
It will be under project name Road Toad, 70 SWB 292 Step. Need to find a 6 cyl tach dash, 292 PS pump and brackets, etc. This one will be my daughter's.
