What Does GMC Stand for?

1902: Max Grabowsky founded Grabowsky Motor Vehicle Company which was reorganized into Rapid Motor Vehicle Company later that year. The company developed some of the world’s first trucks.

1909: General Motors acquired Rapid Motor, resulting in General Motors Truck Company.

1912: The company released the first mass-produced truck, selling over 22,000 models.

Between 1941 and 1945: During WWII, the company became a crucial provider to the U.S. Military and manufactured over 600,000 trucks, including cargo trucks, dump trucks, tankers, bomb transporters, and fire engines. An amphibious vehicle called the DUKW, or “Duck”, became famous during combat. These vehicles would later be used as tour vehicles in U.S. cities.
Who owns GMC today? GMC under the GM umbrella is owned by shareholders since it is a public company.

He devised their CKD program. “Completely Knocked Down “ was a way to enter foreign markets without having to pay duty charges incurred on completely built vehicles. His last comment to me and my brother was “Never Join a Union “ !

"Never join a union" I've heard that many times before. The answer I always get when asking why? "It isn't what it once was." But never an explanation. Is the union really that bad?

My Grandfather, who worked for his whole career for International Harvester as a production engineer told me that, too. He was Management. He also said never to get a tattoo. I have no tattoos, but I've had a Union card since 1987.
Unions are the reason we Americans have Weekends now. Unions are why the 40 hour work week is standard. Unions are why school-age children don't have to work. Monopolists would be able to squeeze even more money out of the Middle Class if only for those pesky Unions draining their profits.

Dude, don't lecture me on union corruption. I grew up in Chicago. I know. Al Capone was once a member of my union, the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees. Back then Management hired thugs to beat up on strikers. The unions responded by hiring better thugs.
Since the RICO Act organized crime is no longer involved with my union.
Sometimes, I wish we still had ''juice.''
The Post Office's problem is with Management.
Don't think Mr Big is ever going to do anything nice for the Common Man.
Especially if it costs him.
